Australia’s Coral Coast Marketing Calendar of Events 2008/09
What are the events all about? Skywest Showcase This one day workshop in Perth provides suppliers and operators from the 5 regions of WA the opportunity to present regional product information to over 100 WA and NT domestic consultants, including retail and corporate travel agents, wholesale reservation staff and staff from the Western Australia Visitor Centre. East Coast Roadshow Workshops are held in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to retail and wholesale travel agents and inbound tour operators. This event provides a unique opportunity to educate the industry on the east coast on the region and the range of products Australia’s Coral Coast has to offer. Caravan & Camping Shows Tourism WA in conjunction with the 5 RTO’s represents the state at these major events averaging over 45,000 visitors per show. This is a fantastic opportunity for Australia’s Coral Coast to provide in-depth informative information to the self drive and fly ‘n’ stay markets in Perth and in all major cities around Australia. Backpacker Expo’s As part of our strategy to increase backpacker visitations, Australia’s Coral Coast distributes the regional holiday planner via Backpacking WA at these important events held annually in Sydney and Melbourne. New Zealand RTO Roadshow Australia’s Coral Coast along with the other RTO’s, Tourism WA and AIM Holidays (NZ) participate in a roadshow visiting key cities within New Zealand. The roadshow attracts over 200 front line New Zealand travel agents. Japan Australia Mission (JAM) This premier Japanese event presents Australian products and services to over 40 of Japan’s key travel trade. Australia’s Coral Coast is well represented in Japan through a range of imagery and product in wholesale brochures. The key objective of JAM is to increase our representation in these wholesale brochures. A post JAM sales mission is also undertaken to Tokyo and key cities in Western Japan. NATAS & MATTA Australia’s Coral Coast has been attending NATAS in Singapore and MATTA in Kuala Lumpur for the past 3 years. These consumer shows are an excellent opportunity to promote the region to the SE Asian holiday market. NATAS attracts approx. 55,000 people each year while MATTA attracts approx. 75,000 people. OzTalk New Zealand OzTalk New Zealand represents a unique opportunity to further develop our share of the New Zealand market. OzTalk is now one of the largest travel shows within Australasia and offers a fantastic opportunity to promote solely to the 180 New Zealand wholesale and retail front-line agents over a 2 day period.
Corroboree UK and Discover Australia workshops These 2 events will be combined in 2009 targeting 400 UK, German and Swiss Aussie Specialist travel agents. The event is held bi-annually in Australia allowing agents to experience Australia first hand. The workshops are designed to increase the agent’s knowledge on the destination and the range of products available. Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) ATE is the premier international marketing forum in Australia. The trade show is divided into the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. ATE is an opportunity to meet and conduct business with up to 160 international buyers from Australia’s key markets over 7 days. It is a cost effective way to promote your product and to grow our regional content in overseas tourism brochures. ACC SE Asia Roadshow Participation Australia’s Coral Coast has produced a 12 page brochure dedicated to the SE Asian market. In addition to the brochure, Australia’s Coral Coast conducts a roadshow to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur where key agents are invited to attend full day workshops sessions to further their knowledge on the destination and the range of products available. UK/Europe Roadshow Australia’s Coral Coast will conduct in-house training at key Aussie Specialist travel agencies throughout UK and Germany/Switzerland. The aim will be to increase the Australia’s Coral Coast product and destination information into overseas wholesale programs as well as educate front line agents on selling the Coral Coast. Australia’s Coral Coast Holiday Planner 2008 80,000 copies of the holiday planner are printed each year. The planner has proven to be a valuable marketing tool which is informative, motivational, pictorially appealing and full of useful tips on holidaying in the region. The planner is distributed widely throughout Australia via Visitor Centres, backpacking hostels, hotels and travel agents and direct to consumers at key shows such as NATAS/ MATTA and the Caravan & Camping Shows. The planner is also distributed internationally in SE Asia, New Zealand, UK/Europe and Japan. The website address is used in all marketing opportunities and is a great way for ACC members to further promote their tourism businesses.
