                         Condominium complexes and apartments are not charged for residential collection;
                                    therefore, they are not eligible for door to door pick-up.



                                                      A unit of waste is: a garbage bag up to 660 mm x 914 mm (26” x
                                                      36”) or a garbage can from 70 to 100 litres and shall not weigh more
                                                      than 22 kg (50 lbs). The standard galvanized garbage can is 77 litres.
                                                     Larger bags or cans are counted as two units. Oversize bags are consid-
                                                     ered one and a half units. Each resident is allowed to place two units of
                                                     waste at the curb for pick-up.

                                                                         What if I have more than two units?
                                                                               Up to three additional units may be placed for pick-up
                                                                                that display an “extra garbage” sticker (one garbage
                                                                                sticker per unit. Maximum of 5 units per household.).

     TRANSFER SITE

     The Transfer Site is run on the user-pay system. The residential garbage utility does not support the operation
     of the Transfer Site and it is not supported through the general tax base.
     Alberta Waste and Recycling, a local company contracted by the City of Airdrie, is participating in a pilot proj-
     ect to operate the Transfer Site. The site has been transformed into a multi-material recovery facility designed
     to handle both residential waste and construction and demolition recyclable materials. Residential waste is still
     accepted at the facility but no commercial waste is accepted.

    How to Sort
    Please sort all loads into the groups indicated above prior to arrival at the site.
    The Transfer Site does not accept pesticides, herbicides, paint, or other chemicals and/or their containers. Take
    these items to the Recycling Depot located at 15 East lake Hill, from May 1 – September 30 (Toxic Round-up/
    Paint Exchange seasonal program).
    Remember to secure and tarp any materials hauled on our highways .
    Loads that are left uncovered are subject to large fines.
