Summary of the Ford/Northwood University Automotive Marketing Degree Program (AMDP)
Ford dealership personnel have a wonderful opportunity to realize the lifetime achievement of a bachelor of business degree in Automotive Management or Automotive Management and Marketing through a new partnership called the Automotive Marketing Degree Program (AMDP). This breakthrough program with Northwood University (NU) www.northwood.edu lets you get credit for your previous post-secondary study, professional education and training (such as FORDSTAR), and other work and life experience. Northwood’s staff will evaluate your application and grant credit wherever possible. You may have enough credits to move into the second or even the third year of the AM/MAN degree! Credit for What You’ve Already Learned One of the reasons we’re so excited to partner with Northwood is that they recognize a variety of ways of demonstrating learning. Our program strives to award credit for every professional FORDSTAR course offered and integrate all past post-secondary credits whether earned in a university, community college, or military setting. On-the-job and life experience is evaluated as well for up to 48 quarter hours of credit. Also, alternative means of earning credit are available by taking exams through the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) offered through thousands of colleges nationwide. All basic courses required for graduation can be earned through this self-study and test-out mechanism. (For more information on the CLEP program, call (609) 771-7865 or visit www.collegeboard.com/clep online. The institution code where CLEP results should be sent is 1568 for Northwood University.) Earn Your Degree at a Distance Northwood University’s innovative automotive curriculum will be available by distance learning. You can take all the courses you need to graduate online (other than a brief residency requirement during the program where you will visit Northwood and meet other learners). If you prefer learning in a traditional setting such as a community college, Northwood will transfer up to 144 quarter hours of credit toward the 180 hours needed to graduate. (Since most colleges operate on a semester system, you will probably need to convert semesters to quarters. Convert semester to quarter hours by multiplying the number of semester hours x 1.5, i.e. 60 semester hours x 1.5 = 90 quarter hours.)

A Program for Adult Learners Our program is designed to serve adult learners like you: returning students 25 years or older with extensive, pertinent work and life experience to share. Relating new knowledge to your experience in a rich, positive environment is key to this program; you will learn as much from each other as from the instructors. Adult learners also contend with the challenges of life outside the classroom: work, family, taxes, house upkeep, illness – and associated distractions. In the past we may have had to set aside even the most cherished study plans for a time, intending to take up our education later. Perhaps now is that time. Northwood’s Support and Counseling Staff The unique needs of adult learners are recognized and accommodated by the University College (UC) of Northwood University, which oversees our program. Northwood specialists can do everything from answer basic questions about applying to helping you strategize about getting the most out of your studying. They know all about the concerns that working adults have about “being a student again”. Their patience and positive attitudes are a wonderful resource and we are delighted to offer them as your allies. Some of the good people to help you are:
