Tim Ogburn (DTSC), Arzell Hale (Searles Valley Minerals) and
Maureen Gorsen (DTSC) share a light moment after the awards
ceremony. Tim, together with Jessie Schnell (not pictured),
approached CICC with the original concept for a Pollution
Prevention (P2) Challenge Program. Without their personal
efforts the program would not have materialized. CICC’s
Arzell Hale, Executive Director (Searles Valley Minerals) and
extends its sincere thanks to Tim and Jessie.
Maureen Gorsen, Director DTSC. SV Minerals was recognized
for excellence in voluntary Pollution Prevention resulting from a
significant energy reduction project which also cut greenhouse
gas emissions. Other key team members included SVM’s Mike
Worley and Ross May.

Executive Director John Ulrich. DTSC and CICC jointly present a Pollution Prevention Challenge Recognition Award to Dow
for its efforts to minimize the number of even the smallest fugitive emissions. Continuous improvement in Pollution
Prevention runs in the Fischback family. Randy’s father, Bryant Fischback (Dow), was a CICC Pioneer, who in 1989 played a
significant role in helping to craft SB-14, the original CA Pollution Prevention statute. CICC congratulations the Dow team!
