									What is PTO at WKHS?

PTO vs. PTA? We are not affiliated with
the national organization named PTA and so that makes us an
independent group. We must then choose a name other than "PTA".
Our group is referred to as a Parent Teachers Organization, hence
PTO.

GOAL: Our goal is to seek parental involvement to assist the teachers
and
administrators at WKHS to provide academic excellence to all of our
students. Our programs fall outside of the school budget.

HOW ARE WE FUNDED: Membership dues, student directory sales,
and various fundraising programs.

PROGRAMS/COMMITTEES: Academic Boosters: Supports and
funds
Student of the Month, Socratic Society, Academic Honors Ceremony, &
Academic Signing Day;
Hospitality: Provides staff meals, refreshments at Open House and
at New Student Orientation, etc.; Student Directory: Collects contact
info. from students/parents and compiles them into a booklet;
Landscaping: Dedicated to the beautification of the lands
around WKHS; Newsletter: Printed several times a year to keep
parents updated about PTO projects, etc. Must be accessed through
PTO web site; Scholarships: PTO funds eight $1,000 scholarships
for Seniors and assists with the selection of these students;
Senior Project: Provides support to the managing teacher as
mentors for those Senior students who wish to participate in this
program; Teacher Appreciation: Provides meals throughout the
year and ends with a teacher appreciation luncheon on the last day of
school; Volunteers: PTO provides staff for the September Open
House, the Bookroom, August Registration, and various other events
occurring at the school throughout the year; Opportunity Grants:
PTO provides funds to teachers per request for purchases or projects
used to enhance classroom instruction. Please refer to our web site for
contact information and for printing PTO forms. We welcome you to
join PTO to become a valuable member of this organization !

Worthington Kilbourne now has a web site! This site was created and
designed in 2007 by Michael Vandewalle, a 2006 WKHS graduate.
He is a former student of Susan Kucharek, Web Page Design teacher.
PTO appreciates both of their efforts and support. www.wkhspto.org
