open source software for recording and editing sounds in Linus, Mac OS X, and other operating systems.

The Toolbar functions

This tool bar is used in making recordings. From left to right: rewind, play, record, pause, stop, fast forward
Steps to a simple recording
1. Have material on-hand that will be used for recording 2. When ready select the record button and record information 3. To listen to recording use rewind button and push play 4. If satisfied with results save the project
Special Notes on Saving
Create a folder under My Documents and name it : Podcasts 2. Go to File-click-bring down toolbar 3. Choose “Save As” option 4. Name file (avoid spaces) 5. Save file in My documents-Podcasts 6. You will see a prompt that tells you this is an audacity file and to be viewed it must be exported. 7. Export is the next step

Obtain Lame Download Page
Windows 1. Go to the LAME download page.
Under "For Audacity on Windows", left-click on the link "libmp3lame-win-3.97.zip" and save the zip folder to anywhere on your computer. 2. When you have finished downloading the ZIP folder, unzip it and save the file lame_enc.dll that it contains to anywhere on your computer. 3. The first time you use the "Export as MP3" command, Audacity will ask you where lame_enc.dll is saved.
Creating the MP3 File
Go to File
• Click to open file toolbar • Choose Export as MP3
• Keep IDv3 (more flexible) • Enter rest of information • Find your MP3 • Give it a listen-double click
