IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT AUGUST EXAM RESULTS...

The Board of Directors of the CBSPD, Inc. wishes to acknowledge the
implementation of the new test specifications for the technician, supervisor, and
manager exams for the August, 2007 test administration. These specifications
resulted in major changes as reflected in the Job Analysis surveys performed in
July 2006. In addition, updated questions were added to the Ambulatory Surgery
and Surgical Instrument exams to reflect current changes in recommended
practices. The CBSPD is committed to providing certification examinations that
reflect the highly technical and sophisticated skills required of all sterile
processors. While these changes have had a notable effect on the passing rates
for each of the exams, the CBSPD recognizes that, as verified with the recent
Job Analysis updates, the scope of practice for the profession has dramatically
changed and therefore these changes need to be included in the examination. In
addition, the revisions are required by the National Commission for Certifying
Agencies (which has accredited the CBSPD) to update the knowledge and skills
for sterile processors approximately every five years and make necessary
changes to the exams based upon the data collected in the Job Analysis reviews.
