									KR Sustainable Enterprise Ideas Scholarship

KR SUSTAINABLE ENTERPRISE IDEAS SCHOLARSHIP
REGULATIONS
BACKGROUND

The KR Leadership Scholarships were established in 1998 as a consequence of a
generous gift by Dr Kevin Roberts. Kevin was, at the time, the Chief Executive Officer of
Saatchi & Saatchi in New Zealand, and a Director of the New Zealand Rugby Football
Union.
In 2003 the KR Leadership Scholarships were re-focused to reflect Kevin’s commitment to
sustainable enterprise.
Currently Dr Roberts is the Worldwide Chief Executive Officer of ideas company Saatchi &
Saatchi, with bases in both New York and New Zealand. He is also CEO in Residence at
the Judge Business School at Cambridge University in the UK and Professor of
Sustainable Enterprise at Waikato Management School.

REGULATIONS

1. Kevin Roberts Sustainable Enterprise Ideas Scholarships may be awarded each
      year. The scholarships are for secondary students who enrol in the Waikato
      Management School in the year following their final year at a New Zealand
      Secondary School. Each scholarship is worth $4,000.
2. The purpose of the Sustainable Enterprise Ideas Scholarships is to encourage,
      promote and reward original and creative ideas from young people that will create a
      better, more sustainable future for New Zealand communities. The scholarships
      reflect the value Kevin Roberts places on generating and implementing new ideas
      to bring about a sustainable future for New Zealand.
3. To be awarded a Sustainable Enterprise Ideas Scholarship, an applicant must
      demonstrate creativity by submitting an original idea for a project that will create a
      better, more sustainable future for their home town (or a community they know
      well), a description of how he or she would implement the idea, and a statement of
      the anticipated benefits to that community. Applications will be judged on:
           •     The applicant’s understanding of sustainable enterprise;
           •     The clarity of the idea(s) presented;
           •     The quality and thoroughness of the presentation;
           • The applicant’s likely success at university.
4. To be eligible to submit an application applicants must:
          • Be enrolled for the NCEA Scholarship, Level 3 or Level 2 qualification or
                equivalent in his or her final year at a secondary school in the year prior to
                application, and;
          • Be enrolled as a full-time, full-year undergraduate student in the Waikato
                Management School in the year in which the scholarship is awarded, and;
          • Be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand permanent resident.
