					JOB DESCRIPTION (Classified Employees) Job Title: Assistant Garage Supervisor Job Code: 1740 Statement of the Job Employee performs skilled work and assists in supervising vehicle and special equipment maintenance and repair programs and garage personnel. Employee substitutes for Garage Supervisor when necessary. Work requires initiative and judgment. Duties of the Job *1. Assists in supervising garage personnel; duties include planning, scheduling, organizing and directing work, training personnel, and recommending applicants for employment or for discipline, termination or retention. *2. Assists in dispatching, maintenance and repairs of motor pool vehicles. *3. Performs duties of a garage mechanic. *4. Assists in developing policies and procedures for maintenance of vehicles and special equipment. *5. Writes work orders. *6. Purchases garage supplies, parts, or tools. *7. Teaches and enforces safety regulation. *8. Assists in maintaining records of vehicles, maintenance, parts and repairs. *9. Diagnoses mechanical failures and damages. Date: March, 1994
