1. Write some times on the board and check that students can say the different times.

2. Give them the time handouts and get them to answer them in pairs. Check the results as a
   whole class.

3. Divide the students into pairs and give the students dictation exercises. Student A dictates
   Time 1 to student B who has to write down what they hear. Then they check the answers
   together. Student B then dictates Time 2 to Students A and so on.

4. Write the word time sheet on the board and ask students what it is. Ask if people have to
   complete a time sheet at work. Ask questions about how often they have to complete them

5. Give students the time sheet handout and explain that these are time sheets. Check they
   understand the sheet, i.e. employees name, pay period ending, in and out etc.

6. Ask if Lin worked on Sunday (answer no); ask what time she starts work (answer 8:00 a.m.)
   then ask students to answer the questions in pairs. Check the answers as a whole class.

7. Then tell students to read the information about Suzanne Wong and to complete the
   timesheet from the information. They should do this in pairs and then check a whole class.

8. Draw a timesheet on the board and get students to ask you questions to complete the
   timesheet for your last week at work (you can invent the answers if you want). Make sure the
   students know the correct form for the questions they have to ask. ‘What time did you start
   work on….?’ What time did you go to lunch on ….?’ ‘What time did you finish work on ….?’

9. Then get students to interview their partner and complete the blank timesheet for the previous
   week. If someone doesn’t work, get him or her to complete the information for the times they
   came to school last week.

10. If there is still time, give them the multiword crossword puzzle to do in small groups. Explain
    that that Level A is the easiest and level C the hardest, but the answers are all the same.

11. Alternatively you could play bingo. Get students to divide a sheet of paper into 12 squares
    and to write a time in each square (from the dictation exercise). Then call out the numbers
    randomly (make sure you remember which ones you called) and the first students to get a
    line wins.
