									2009 Christmas Tree Recycling
Curbside collection of Christmas trees will take place from Monday, December 29, 2009 through Friday, January 8, 2010 Athens Services will collect Christmas trees with a separate vehicle on the regular trash collection day. Please note that because Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on a Friday, there will be a one-day delay after the holiday for refuse service during the weeks of December 21 and December 28, 2009. Single family residents, please place Christmas tree at curbside next to barrels and remember to remove ornaments, nails, tinsel, and stand attached to the tree. Flocked trees or trees coated with a fire retardant will also be accepted. Residents who live in multi-family complexes with bin service should place Christmas trees at curbside near the complex entrance on the regular trash collection day for single family residences in the area to ensure pick up. Trees will be collected free of charge and hauled to the landfill to be used as alternative daily cover. For more information, contact the Environmental Services Section at (626) 384-5480 or Athens Services at (626) 336-6100. Visit the City of Covina web site at www.covinaca.gov to view information on trash/recycling schedules.

This program is sponsored by the City of Covina, Athens Services, and the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County.
