Procedure for seeking admission to MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS under Foreign Indian Students (NRI) Quota affiliated to the BABA FARID UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, FARIDKOT, PUNJAB(INDIA) Session – 2009-10 Introduction: Candidates seeking admission under the Foreign Indian Students (NRI) category into any of the affiliated institutions of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS courses having cleared 10+2 school qualification in appropriate subjects from any of institution/ university/ board etc. recognized and approved by the Government/ University are eligible to apply. Applicants are required to first apply to the University on prescribed forms for equation of their respective qualification and issue of Eligibility Certificate. After obtaining the Eligibility Certificate, candidates are required to apply afresh to the University for seeking admission in State/University colleges. The candidates who want to seek admission to private colleges they have to apply to the concerned private college/s. All applications for equation are required to be sent to the University at its official address Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Sadiq Road, Faridkot 151203 (Pb.), INDIA on or before the expiry of the last date as may be prescribed. The physical presence of the candidates is compulsory at the time of counselling. Admission shall be strictly according to preference category wise merit as per the Punjab Govt. Notification and its amendments. After selection, the candidates will be required to deposit the prescribed fee as per instructions. Procedure for getting Eligibility Certificate Before applying for admission under Foreign Indian Student(NRI) quota a candidate needs to seek Equivalence/Eligibility certificate from BFUHS by applying on prescribed application performa available from the University office on payment of Rs. 1000/-. The performa may be downloaded from the University website www.babafariduniv.com and it may be sent to the University alongwith fee of US$ 500 ($300 for BAMS/BHMS Course only) plus or equivalent in US$ being the cost of the application form in the shape of demand draft/cashier’s cheque in favour of the Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot drawn on any bank payable in India. The applicant has to attach following documents along with the application:(i) 10+1/ equivalent examination detailed marks certificate(s) (The certificate(s) must show the marks of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) (vi) 10+2/ equivalent examination detailed marks certificate(s) (The certificate(s) must show the marks of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English) Explanation Sheet of grades. Date of Birth Certificate. Character/Recommendation Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended. Proof of NRI status of candidate/parents Note:- These documents should be original along with Photocopies duly attested by a competent authority. A candidate should fill in the form preferably in his/her own handwriting & send it to the Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Sadiq Road, Faridkot-151203 (Pb) India along with a Bank Draft for US $ 500/- ($300 for BAMS/BHMS course only) or equivalent amount in Indian rupees, in favour of the Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, (Pb) India payable at Faridkot.. If the form is down loaded he/she also send Rs. 1000/- or equivalent in US$- as a cost of form. After verification of the documents, the university will issue Eligibility/Equivalency Certificate to the Eligible candidates only, and all original documents will be returned in person at the time of issue of Eligibility/Equivalency certificate. Procedure for admission to Govt./University colleges: Last date for submission of Application Form: 2/7/2009 * After getting the Eligibility Certificate from the University, the candidate has to apply for admission on the prescribed Admission Application form to the Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. * The Admission Application form for admission is available at the University counter on a payment of Rs.2000/- or equivalent in US$ . * The candidate can also obtain this form by post on request for which the candidate has to send a Demand Draft of Rs.2000 or equivalent in US$ in favour of Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot drawn on any bank payable at Faridkot. * The candidate can also down load Admission Application form from the website of the University www.babafariduniv.com. However, if the candidate downloads the form from the Website, he will have to send an additional demand draft of Rs.2000/- or equivalent in US $ in favour of Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot drawn on any bank payable at Faridkot towards the cost of this form. After getting the Admission Application form, he has to send this duly completed form to Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, along with a bank draft of US $ 500 ($300 for BAMS course only) or its equivalent amount in Indian Rupees in favour of Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot drawn on any bank payable at Faridkot. The candidate has to attach the photocopies of the following documents duly attested by the competent authority along with application form:(i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) (vi) (vii) (viii) 10+1/ equivalent examination detailed marks certificate(s) 2. Eligibility certificate Three latest colour signed and attested photographs (Passport size). The candidate applying under category (I) & (II) are required to submit a. Photostat Copies of the passport of Father/Candidate. b. Proof of having ancestral background of Punjab. Demand Draft/ Cashier’s Cheque for US $ 500/700 (US$300/400 for BAMS) or equivalent in Indian Rupee. (ix) 3. For admission to Private Colleges: a. After obtaining the Eligibility Certificate from the University, the candidate has to apply to the concerned private college/s where he/she wants to seek admission. b. 15% seats of the total intake capacity are reserved for Foreign Indian Students(NRI) in Private colleges. Eligibility criteria for State/University as well as Private Institutes a) Candidate must be 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2009. b) They should have passed in such qualifying examination from a recognized institution in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and should have obtained atleast 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) taken together, in case of MBBS/BDS/BAMS and 40% in case of BHMS. Candidate should have studied 10+1 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Candidates seeking admission under Foreign Indian Student (NRI) quota are not required to take PMET but they must appear for counseling before the Selection committee. Preference- : The criteria laid down for admission against seats reserved for NRI Candidates will be as under:Category I : NRIs who originally belonged to the State of Punjab. Category II : NRIs who originally belonged to an Indian state other than Punjab. The student will have to give a bank guarantee/surety bond for the residual fee, if he/she opts to pay the fee in installment as provided. b. The candidate shall be eligible only if they deposit the fee in foreign currency from their own/Parents NRI account. All original documents are required to be submitted at the time of applying for EQUATION CERTIFICATE. Statements of result issued by School/College and the un-authenticated Result Notification/ Result Slip etc. will not be accepted. After admission candidates will be required to obtain appropriate student visa if necessary on their own. Candidates shall also be required to obtain a Clearance Certificate from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi in due course and submit it to the Principal of the college to which they are admitted.
