Office 2007 Help with the New Interface
The main features of the new interface are:
The Office Button
The Office Button save, print.
is flashing when you open the application. Click on this button to open,
The Ribbon
The ribbon is designed to help you find the commands you need to complete the task
1 Tabs represent activity areas e.g. the Home tab
contains all the tasks you use most often 2 Groups within each tab break the tasks down 3 Command buttons in each group carry out a command or display a menu to choose from
The Quick Access Toolbar where you can place the commands you use the most often

Compatibility with other versions of Office
Saving Documents when using the Staff Desktop or desktop ANYWHERE When using Office 2007 on the Staff Desktop or via desktop ANYWHERE your document will automatically be saved as a 97-2003 Document. This means that you will be able to open it on machines that are running other versions of Office or send it as an attachment to your colleagues who may be using a different version. Saving Documents on a PC with Office 2007 installed University Staff workstations installed with Office 2007 are set to save documents in Office 2007 format. In order to be able to share your documents with colleagues who are using a different version of Office i.e. Office 2003, the best action to take is to Save As a 97-2003 Document.
Any members of staff using a PC with Office 2003 can make a request for an Office 2007 compatibility pack to be installed on their machine so that they can open Office 2007 documents. Office 2007 Work at Home discs are also available. Just call the IT Helpline for more information.
