Job Title Community Grants Project Support Officer

Reporting To

Programme Manager

Responsible For

_ To support the effective delivery of the London Development Agency (LDA) European Social Fund (ESF) Community Grants programme

Purpose

Key Responsibilities

Specific Tasks

Business Objective

To promote the Community Grants programme and provide support to applicants

To assist with the preparation of promotional workshops To assist with the delivery of promotional workshops and support to applicants To ensure that ESF and Community Grants branding is applied to project and programme publicity

To assist in the high quality delivery of the LDA Community Grants Programme

To provide support for contracting with grant funded projects

To draw up grant agreements with funded organisations To review and suggest amendments to project plans To review project budgets for ESF eligibility and realism

To assist in the high quality delivery of the LDA Community Grants Programme

To monitor the development and progress of projects to ensure successful delivery

To maintain regular contact with funded organisations To monitor project spend and delivery through the provision of regular update reports To check project expenditure and participant monitoring returns against contracts for eligibility To assist projects with action planning to address under-delivery in terms of project expenditure or outputs

To assist in the high quality delivery of the LDA Community Grants Programme

To contribute to the administration of the Community Grants Programme

To ensure that grant applications are correctly logged and stored To ensure that clear records are kept of all meetings and correspondence with projects and partners To ensure that clear records are kept of project expenditure and delivery To ensure that all records are kept in line with ESF requirements

To assist in the high quality delivery of the LDA Community Grants Programme

To contribute to regular reports to stakeholders on the progress of the Community Grants Programme

To collate information on project expenditure and delivery To provide updates to the programme manager and project partners on project expenditure and delivery

To assist in the high quality delivery of the LDA Community Grants Programme.

To contribute to the evaluation of the Community Grants Programme

To evaluate funded projects’ expenditure and delivery To draw up lessons learnt from the management of the Community Grants Programme To contribute to writing annual evaluation reports

To assist in the high quality delivery of the LDA Community Grants Programme.

Candidate Profile
Element Essential Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish a supportive relationship with a diverse range of people Good levels of literacy and numeracy Skills Negotiation skills High level administrative skills supported by very good ICT skills including Word and Excel Self-motivated and confident Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team Willing to see tasks through to their conclusion Qualities Persistence in the face of challenges Able to provide clear guidance and difficult messages assertively Understanding of the impact of disadvantage on employment chances Knowledge of the monitoring and reporting requirements of grant funding regimes Knowledge of a range of training organisations from various sectors Experience of working in a multicultural environment Experience of monitoring ESF funded organisations Good working knowledge of ESF rules and regulations Knowledge of the London Regional ESF Framework 200713 Degree level education Understanding of the impact of disadvantage on employment chances Desirable Computer skills including Access

Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications

No specific requirement (personal qualities are more important) Evidence of the ability to organise tasks and maintain schedules, under pressure when necessary

Conditions and Remuneration
Starting salary Contract £21,500

Until March 2011

Hours

5 days a week: 09.30 – 17.30 with occasional requirement for flexibility outside these hours 25 days
