What are the diving seasons of Maldives? January to April is the best season for diving with currents and from August to December you are likely to encounter Mantas. June & July brings about the monsoon rain & very strong wind. The local Dive Master will conduct your dives depending on the season you visit the Maldives. What are the various types of marine life to be expected? There are infinite numbers of fish and species to be seen within the scattered coral gardens & wrecks of the Maldives. The fauna & flora is extremely rich. The Maldives are considered one of the best de destinations in the world. You are likely to encounter different species of colorful reef fish and mantas, eels, shark and turtles. What kinds of diving can be done? Drift diving is most commonly done in the Maldives. In addition, wreck diving and cave diving are also practiced. Why do I need to go on a LOB to dive? The Maldives has over 1000 coral islands and it spread across the turquoise and tranquil Indian ocean. The best diving sites are scattered across the country (which has 99% of its surface area submerged in seawater) What diving equipments are provided by the Safari vessel? LOB provides compressor, tanks, air and weights. For safety reason, OXYGEN is onboard too. How many dives are included per day onboard the LOB? 3 day dives per diver per day and 1 night dive for the entire trip. Will a separate Dhoni be available to function as diving support? Yes. The compressor and all the diving equipment are kept on the Dhoni. Can a non-diver (friend, family member, etc) accompany the trip? The Maldives has one of the best pristine, clear waters and unspoiled beaches in the world. The non diving person can relax and enjoy the sea, sun and the sand. Visiting village islands, anchor at resorts, hop on to uninhabited islands. What are the facilities on board the Diving Safari Vessels? The vessels have live-aboard facilities (rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and dinning area) and can accommodate 10 – 12 guests’ comfortably. There are3 – 5 crew members consisting of a skipper, chef and assistants. The vessels come with electricity supply with same Power sockets as Singapore with 220-240V supplies. There are spacious sundecks onboard for sun tanning. Indoor board games, TV and VCR are available for your entertainment.
What is restricted in the Maldives? The Maldives prohibits import of firearms, explosives, fire works, narcotic drugs, dogs and alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic beverages however are available for sale onboard the LOB. How is the tipping requirement onboard the LOB? Tipping of crew though not made compulsory, is strongly encourage. All tips are based on individuals’ desire and generosity. Tips help to supplement the income of the everhelpful crewmembers. What is the climate in the Maldives? The Maldives has a tropical climate of an average temperature of 32 degree Celsius. Monsoon rain & strong wind occurs from June to July What should I bring along?
