Class Notes Grades 3-5 for September 7-14, 2006
VERSE OF THE WEEK QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Anyone who does not love does not know God— The difference between Mrs. Sexton’s class and Mr. Peinado’s class is that
for God is love. “he’s a lot louder, and there is more work! But snack time makes up for it.”

1. Classroom Happenings: Although it was a short week, we lost Monday due to Labor Day, it has been full with
students learning the appropriate procedures for completing class work in Spelling and Math, labeling
papers properly in all subjects, learning about the three components to fitness (strength, endurance, and
flexibility) and reviewing our Agreements and Classroom Procedures. This week we also discussed
consequences and rewards for classroom expectations and learned about what God wants for us in this
rd th
life. If you ask your 3 or 4 grader they may say Shalom (Hebrew word for complete peace); if your child is a
th
5 grader hopefully they respond with the Fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5. If you should have any
questions and need to get a hold of me you can reach me at rpeinado@sasonline.org or you can contact me at
home (503.366.2770).
2. STAR Notebooks is a student organization folder that will be a place for students to store returned work,
classroom rules, schedules, assignments, etc. during the school year. There is a letter explaining the folder to
you. The section that is most important is the Daily Agenda which will be your way of checking in to see what
your child completed for the day. Students should take folders home daily and return them with a
parent/guardian initial at least twice a week. This is one of my systems of checks and balances so students
know that they are accountable for completing their school work.
3. Each Thursday you will receive a Thursday Packet from the School Office. It is important that envelopes are
returned before the following Thursday, signed so that we know that you have received a packet. Any
questions please contact Mr. McKeone or stop by the office and speak with Mrs. Loeks our school secretary.
4. Thursday, September 7: Back to School Night, 7 PM; Monday, September 11: Home & School Meeting 7PM;
th
Tuesday, September 12: 8 Grade Hot Lunch; Thursday, September 14: H & S Hot Lunch
