Source code is in C#. Description from the website: Paint.NET is {an open-source} image and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows 2000, XP, Vista, or Server 2003. 3. Programmer at the City of Roanoke. I've been working in .NET on and off for 2 years. Most of my experience has been VB, but I'm working into ASP. I enjoy long walks on the beach, and... Well, we'll keep it professional. The last power tool I used was a Makita Model HM1500B 42 pound jackhammer with 360 degree swiveling side arm, low-vibration handle, and optional cupholder attachment... That was a good day... 4. I will use my own laptop, and, yes, I would like access to the wireless network - see you then! WILL ASHLEY 1. Link to your free tool (if available) http://logging.apache.org/log4net/ 2. Is your demo in VB or C# or not applicable. C# 2. Brief description of what the tool does. I can write something from your link if you like, but it might be better if you did it - that way it emphasizes the feature you are going to demo. I'm talking "really brief" here - a phrase, 10-words or less Provides the ability to send logging statements to multiple outputs in various formats and be able to be controlled by various levels. 3. Brief info on you I am a project manager at NetVentures Corporation I have been working with .NET for about 3 years and we use .NET to develop desktop, webservices, windows services and web applications. We use log4net in our products to help us debug our production applications. 4. Do you plan to use the laptop provided? sure, 4a. If YES - do you need anything else loaded on the laptop? It would be good if you sent us files ahead of time - say, no later than Tuesday of next week. If you're not ready and need to load files the day of... we can deal with that too. No problem. Just let me know you will be sending files please. I will try to finish the presentation this weekend, and send you the files. I might need power point.. but that should be it. TOLGA BALCI 1. Link to your free tool (if available) www.nunit.org Demo will demonstrate Nunit 2.2.8 ================================================================= 2. Is your demo in VB or C# or not applicable. Take a wild guess :O) ... C# ================================================================= 2. Brief description of what the tool does. I can write something from your link if you like, but it might be better if you did it - that way it emphasizes the feature you are going to demo. I'm talking "really brief" here - a phrase, 10-words or less A framework for unit testing your projects. ================================================================= 3. Brief info on you - how long you've been working in .NET 4 years, mostly C# - last time you used a tool I use a tool often :O), Advance doesn't use Nunit in projects yet, but I'd like to change that, not sure if I want this information included in my intro though. ================================================================= 4. Do you plan to use the laptop provided? No (unless I can't get mine connected to the net) ================================================================= 4a. If YES - do you need anything else loaded on the laptop? It would be good if you sent us files ahead of time - say, no later than Tuesday of next week. If you're not ready and need to load files the day of... we can deal with that too. No problem. Just let me know you will be sending filesl please. No (If I need it I'll use it in conjunction to my own laptop) ================================================================= 4b. If NO - do you need wireless i-net? It seems you get a message stating it's a secure network - but if you connect 3-times, it works. Come a few minutes early so we can help you out if needed. Yes, I'd like to be connected, it's a required part of my brain :O) ERIC CRUTCHFIELD: 1. Link to your free tool (if available) http://www.hibernate.org/343.html 2. Is your demo in VB or C# or not applicable. C# 2. Brief description of what the tool does. NHibernate is a port of Hibernate Core for Java to the .NET Framework. It handles persisting plain .NET objects to and from an underlying relational database. Given an XML description of your entities and relationships, NHibernate automatically generates SQL for loading and storing the objects. Optionally, you can describe your mapping metadata with attributes in your source code. 3. Brief info on you I'm an IT Consultant for Edgewater Technology, a Boston, MA company. I've been doing .NET stuff for about 3 years. 4. Do you plan to use the laptop provided? No. 4b. If NO - do you need wireless i-net? Probably not. JOE WALDIN 1a. The free version... http://msdn.microsoft.com/VBasic/Downloads/Tools/Refactor/ 1b. The retail version... http://www.devexpress.com/Products/NET/Refactor/ 2. Info on the tool... Refactor! is an add-in to Visual Studio .NET that parses your Source code as you move through it and delivers context specific refactorings that automate the process of reorganizing and shaping your source to make it easier to read and cheaper to maintain. 3. Brief info on me... I've been a hobby programmer since Quick Basic days circa 1989-90. I picked up VB.Net when 2003 was released. With the exception of a single VB 2003 .NET beginner's class I attended at VWCC, I have no formal computer/programming training. I am basically self-taught from books and magazines. I moved up to VB 2005 when it was first released. Currently, I am still just a hobby programmer and write single purpose utilities for myself and the folks in my office. Concerning the tools I use... I use the Refactor tool all of the time since it is an add-in to VB 2005 and is part of the VB IDE. However, I do not utilize all of the features yet. (Still learning & experimenting). I also occasionally use the snippet code editor. I used it exclusively to set up the code for my VSTO presentation scheduled for September. Again, I am still learning the many features of this tool too. 4. My demo consists of two introductory videos from the developer. (An easy presentation wouldn't you say?) My laptop has the video codecs and Camtasia stuff already configured so it makes sense to use my PC. I do not need an internet connection. I also will bring my own audio speakers. ROBIN EDWARDS 1. Link to your free tool (if available) http://msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/downloads/tools/snippeteditor/ ================================================================= 2. Is your demo in VB or C# or not applicable. VB ================================================================= 2. Brief description of what the tool does. Windows Forms application with UI for creating, editing, testing VB code snippets The hundreds of code snippets that ship with Visual Basic 2005 certainly help your productivity. But what about developing your own library of custom snippets? With the Visual Basic Snippet Editor you can use this Windows Forms application to rapidly build and test your snippets. ================================================================= 3. Brief info on you Want to spend more time with User Groups (even beyond Roanoke) and Code Camps – the more involved you are, the more you learn and the bigger your network (ie net to catch you when you screw-up miserably) - how long you've been working in .NET Since 1.0 was released (started with VB4) last time you used a tool Paid product – FarPoint Spread New to the idea of using anything beyond “out of the box” but am definitely beginning to see the value – ie – IE Developer Tool Bar ================================================================= 4. Do you plan to use the laptop provided? Using mine ================================================================= 4a. If YES - do you need anything else loaded on the laptop? It would be good if you sent us files ahead of time - say, no later than Tuesday of next week. If you're not ready and need to load files the day of... we can deal with that too. No problem. It seems you get a message stating it's a secure network - but if you connect 3-times, it works. Come a few minutes early so we can help you out if needed. Yes, I'd like to be connected
