                              Poster Session FAQ’s

Q:   Do I need to register for the Symposium in addition to registering a poster?
A:   Yes, name tags and lunch will be provided for those who register for the Symposium.
     Registration is available at

Q:   Where is the Poster session?
A:   Burton Morgan Center Café

Q:   When can I set up my poster/display?
A:   Thursday, October 9 from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Q:   Do I need to be present during judging?
A:   No. During the Symposium, the formal poster session will take place from 10:15-11:00
     a.m. on Friday, October 10. It is recommended that you are present during this time
     however judging will take place at the convenience of the judges on Thursday evening
     and during the day on Friday.

Q:   Who will be judging the posters?
A:   Purdue University faculty from the campus units sponsoring the Symposium.

Q:   What are the judging criteria?
A:   Poster content will be scored in three categories: 1) Breadth of applicability (multiple
     disciplines), 2) degree of innovation, and 3) robustness/viability.

Q:   When will posters be judged?
A:   Thursday evening and Friday morning, October 9 and 10

Q:   When will awards be presented?
A:   At approximately 2:45 p.m. at the conclusion of the Symposium.

Q:   Do I need to be present to receive my award?
A:   No. However we must have your contact information to process the required forms.

Q:   Will the winning posters be published?
A:   No.

Q:   Are there size recommendations?
A:   Yes, posters may range in size from one that fits on a standard 28” wide x 44” high
     poster board up to one that fits on two such sheets for a maximum size of 56” wide by
     44” high.

Q:   Can I submit more than one poster?
A:   Yes – an individual student may submit no more than 2 posters.

Q:   Can an individual student win more than one award?
A:   No.

Q:   Can I be late?
A:   Posters not in place when the judges arrive will not be judged and therefore will be
     ineligible for a prize. Please be sure to set-up your poster between 1:00-5:00 p.m. on
     Thursday, October 9.
