Aspen FAQ Some of the stuff in the shop is named after you. Did you know that? Yes I did! I’m happy to have the pleasure of conceptualizing and designing a lot of the apparel line we have. Were you already a Fashion Designer? Yes. I’ve had my own company since I was 15. I’ve produced fashion shows, being involved in every aspect from concept to production. I have a degree in Fashion Design. I’ve been working in the fashion industry in NYC for 6 and a half years. I’ve worked in every market from couture to budget. My most recent full time position was a Design Director for an Intimate Apparel company and I have a passion for lingerie, which is why a lot of my designs are lingerie inspired and I believe in the concept of innerwear as outerwear. Presently, my company is focusing on creating fashion brands for companies that don’t normally specialize in apparel (bands, video game companies) and overseeing their manufacturing. Can I see some of your other work? Resume and portfolio are available upon request. I protect the privacy of my clientele, so these items are only available to serious inquiries only who have an interest in hiring me for consulting or design services, or if you are also in the Industry and would like to talk shop. Why don’t you have any tattoos? Somehow I have dodged that bullet in my life thus far, probably due to me being vain about my skin. No I’m not afraid of the pain. Yes I am open to getting them in the future (but then I’d have to change my name from Aspen since I’m named after the snow). As an artist I have a great appreciation for the medium, and would only get extraordinary ink. Why is your screen name public? Yes but I also get lovely inquiries from the awesome members of suicidegirls.com about sizing concerns and people who have clothing questions and I love that stuff! It’s worth the occasional riff-raff. I thought you lived in New York so why are you in LA a lot? Due to the nature of my business, it requires me to be bi-coastal. It’s a bitch. ;) Did being naked on the internet hurt your career? No. I’m in charge of my own destiny.
