					I Can’t

Well hows your weeks been? It’s been kinda tuff for me putting in all the hours at the concrete plant, ya’ll pray that, really fervently, that we get everything lined out and we can become normal again. Well around here that’s a hard thing to answer, but it brings up something that I think we need to talk about this morning... I was taking a shower this morning and… and my, yeah, ya’ll appreciate that, especially after being in a concrete plant…and Yahweh spoke to me and He said this, He said “My People say I can’t,” and that just broke me. “My People say I can’t.” And I started praying about that and I realized that in many times in my life I’ve said I can’t. You ever been there? We talk about being Yahweh’s people and being children of the King, and that’s all good stuff isn’t it?…when things are good, we can feel it can’t we? But what about when things aren’t good? How many know that just being washed in the blood of the Messiah and walking in the commandments and statutes doesn’t mean that your life is a bed of roses. That’s one of the things I tell prisoners when we go into the prisons. I tell them, now don’t believe that excepting Yahshua as your Messiah is going to make these prison gates swing open…how many know that they never swing open in that moment? But the prison gates in here (your heart) swing open. There’s going to come trials. And you know a lot of us sitting in here have been through the trials, and have been in where I’ve been in many times in my life, and we raise our hands and say “yeah thank you for the blessings, Yahweh!” But this morning as I was praying, and I saw the Body of the Messiah…we’re weak. I remembered why Yahweh calls us sheep. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again this morning, that’s not flattery. A sheep is looking for a place to die! And we’re just like that as His people. I considered and I remembered the words of Mark last Sunday as he taught us. We’re a people that are blessed and don’t even know it. He told us stories of children climbing garbage dumps looking for food. He said “I thought I was ready for South Africa, because I’d been in the Middle East and I’ve seen abstract poverty.” But he said, “I wasn’t ready for South Africa.” Friends when you consider the things that go on in our lives compared to that devastation, we’re a blessed people. And I started considering, and it was something that came up in me at Sukkot, what are we going to do as Yahweh’s people when things get hard. Because we think that they’re hard now. You gotta work seventy…eighty hours a week. Circumstances aren’t what you expect them to be…everything’s not easy for you…what do we do? We say “I can’t.” We say “I can’t do this…anymore.” And we give a people. Now what kind of testimony goes forth to the world when we give up? We’re just like everybody else aren’t we? And then, just like everybody else, the self pity comes in. Well look at them Yahweh, look how you’re blessing them and they’re wicked…or they’re pagan…or they’re Methodist, or they’re Church of Christ…they’re not even walking in Your Ways. They don’t even know what “The Feast” is. Look how you’re blessing them…what about me? Come on now! Be honest. You know what, Yahweh knows your heart. With that in mind, turn with me to Jeremiah, Chapter 12. Part of the reason why we get to that place, is because we forget who we are. And you know, I do it. So I know each one of Olive Branch Ministries 972 736 2900

you, do it. But here’s the thing. This morning we talked about miracles, I mean real miracles. Individuals who were dead, we are sitting in this room, who are no longer dead…amen! Individuals who had things going on in their bodies, brain cancer, don’t have brain cancer anymore. And we see all those things yet we get into that place, that little pity place…don’t we? Because we forget who we are. You know what the problem with Israel is? We’re Israel. Coming out of Mitzraim, coming out of Egypt, the same thing happened didn’t it? They saw all the miracles, they experienced Passover first hand. They saw the Red Sea split, and swallow up Pharaoh’s men. And when they got in the middle of the desert, in the wilderness, what happened? They forgot all that and they became a bunch of whiny butts didn’t they? “We can’t do this anymore.” In Jeremiah chapter 12, Yahweh speaks to this. And we’re going to read verses one through six, and then I’m going to translate into Redneck terms for you. Join me now, Jeremiah 12:1 Righteous are You, O Yahweh, when I plead with You; Yet let me talk with You about Your judgments. Now, get this in your mind, this is Jeremiah, and he’s saying “Father you’re awesome, and you’re righteous...I wanna talk with you. So come over here and have a seat, I’m going to talk with you about Your judgments for a minute.” You see what’s happening, Jeremiah’s putting himself where? Equal to Elohim (God). Now who’s sin is that? That’s the sin of Satan isn’t it? That he would be like, the Most High. You do that? You ever get in that place in your life where you go “you know Father you’re cool but, uh, can you sit down here and let me tell you what I think for a minute? You do that? Yeah, come on now. That’s what Jeremiahs doing. Now listen: …let me talk with You about Your judgments. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are those happy who deal so treacherously? [You see what’s happening here? Do you think Jeremiah’s feeling some of the things like we felt?] 2 You have planted them, yes, they have taken root; They grow, yes, they bear fruit. You are near in their mouth But [what] far from their mind. So when we first start reading this, we think yeah he’s talking about the pagans right? The ones who give up their children in the fire for burnt sacrifices and we go “oh yeah, that’s wicked.” But now it starts to get more closer to home doesn’t it? He’s saying “you are near in their mouth, but far from their heart. Who are those people? You reckon it’s those are people who are in need of personal relationship but just have an emotional thing going on? I think so. But You, O Yahweh, know me; You have seen me, And You have tested my heart toward You. So in other words Jeremiah’s saying “sit down here Yahweh, I need to talk to you about some of your judgements going on here, look at these people doing the religious thing and You’re in their mouth but not in their heart and You’re not in their mind, but You know me! I’m not that way! You’ve tested me, remember, Jeremiah? The one that You knew before I had form in my mother’s womb…hello…I’m not that way. But Jeremiah’s doing the same thing isn’t he? He’s doing the same thing… Yahweh’s near in his mouth, but not in his heart and not in his mind because, you know what, if Jeremiah would have thought about it for a minute… not sitting the Most High down in the chair and saying “let me talk to You about what you’re doing,” doesn’t understand what sovereign is. Olive Branch Ministries 972 736 2900

But You, O Yahweh, know me; You have seen me, And You have tested my heart toward You. Pull them [“Them.” You know them, we talk about “them” all the time. “Them”] Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, [Let’s just cut their throats. If you just kill them, everything will be fine.] And prepare them for the day of slaughter.[The day of judgment.] 4 How long will the land mourn, And the herbs of every field wither? The beasts and birds are consumed, For the wickedness of those who dwell there, Because they said, "He will not see our final end." Now what does that mean? You know, when you get in that place. When things are hard, or they’re not going the way you think they need to go, or the way you work it out in your mind…how many have worked their lives out in their mind? When you grew up you were going to be President or something? You know I did that one time…well many times…by this time in my life, I would be owning my own beach, in Mexico, drinking those cool little drinks with the umbrellas hangin’ out the top. Oh yeah, that was Tom. And I was well on my way. But you know what, Daddy said something different. Now I can’t even buy the umbrellas that go in the cool little drink. But that was one of my plans…and I know we all do that. And we think that because we don’t understand who Yahweh is. And because we don’t understand who Yahweh is, we forget who we are, in the moments of life…does that make sense? And one of the things that we have to remember right now, is who we are. I was watching a cool movie, it’s one of my favorite movies, it’s an old movie with Jack Nicholson in it, and I love Jack Nicholson. And the movie title is “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” And at different points in my life when I watch that movie I can identify with different people. Sometimes I can identify with Jack Nicholson, and sometimes I can identify with Chief, you know the big Indian Dude who’s not saying anything. Or sometimes I can identify with the guy, and I really long to be him, the one who plays with the dust in the sunlight in the window. But in this movie, Jack Nicholson is not crazy. As a matter of fact, none of these people are crazy. But they’ve been identified and catagorized a certain way. And even though Jack Nicholson is in this institution because nobody understands him, one of the things he knows is who he is…and that transformed people’s lives. All the medicine and all the proper ways of diagnosing and dealing with these people with mental disorders didn’t work. It just made them worse didn’t it? You remember the movie? You know what made an impact in their life was Jack Nicholson. Because he remembered who he is. He did things like…he escaped, stole the school bus, rolled it up to the mental institution and the people working there thought they were going on a field trip so they loaded everybody up on the bus. And as soon as the bus doors shut they realized, hey that’s one of our patients driving. And Jack Nicholson took this group of people down to the pier, stole a boat, and took them all fishing. And he took this one guy, who plays with the dust in the window, he goes “okay now you’re driving the boat!” And he said “I don’t know how” and Jack said “that’s okay, you don’t know how, just go straight.” And he got them all fishing. And it made an impact in their life. Because even though Jack Nicholson was surrounded by people trying to define him, he didn’t ever forget who he was, and it made an impact in these people’s lives. Now here’s the thing, that’s who we are. You see what I’m saying? We are supposed to be… what? Set-Apart so that we can be light into the world…right? What did Yahshua (Jesus) say? Let’s remember this. And He’s talking to you. He’s talking to His disciples and the crowd…He said this, He said “You, are the light of the world,” didn’t He? You. And so some mornings when we wake up and we’re in this mental institution called our life, and surrounded by all these crazies…we gotta remember who we are. Because we’ve been redeemed, and not only Olive Branch Ministries 972 736 2900

that, and at any time… but do you realize if Jack Nicholson escaped to go steal a school bus he could’ve escaped any time…and ran away? Now how many have ever felt like running away screaming into the darkness? Everybody in the room or you’re a liar if you’re not raising your hand. I know I walk this. He didn’t do that. You see that’s called “giving up.” That’s not an option for us. That wasn’t an option for Yahshua, and Yahshua is our model. So when you get your life all figured out and it’s not going the way you think it needs to go, remember Jeremiah. It’s easy for us to understand and have the opinion that He will not see our final end, because you know what, Yahweh has become in our society this “spiritual thing” this “wooooo, floating around” and He’s not really real. How many in the room know that that’s a lie straight out of the pit of hell? He’s more real, than anything you see here. So here we have Jeremiah pouring this out to Yahweh, telling Him how he needs to deal, the El (God) of the universe, needs to deal with His creation. And Yahweh answers him, and this is what He says:

" If you [now this is Yahweh talking to Jeremiah] " If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, Then how can you contend with horses? [think about that] " If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, Then how can you contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, In which you trusted, they wearied you, Then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan?

Now family, that’s where we are right now. Listen to me. Yahweh says, if you Jeremiah, if you Donald Ray, if you John, if you Bob, if you Lex, if you, have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, Then how can you, Bob, John, Lex, run with horses? Now think about that for a minute. How many in this room can run with the footmen? I mean there’s some that can right? Probably Matt. Well, one out forty ain’t bad. Sam, two. But you get a guy like me, in this awesome shape that I am…that’s looks like a pear…I can run pretty quick for ten yards, but after that, I’m looking for my inhaler. I remember one time, I had a friend of mine get married and we all had played football together…and his wish for the day of his wedding was that we all get together and play football like we used to. That was hilarious. But all these guys had little brothers that were now playing high school football… and they were the other team. And the guy that I was guarding, said “Tom you’re hitting awful hard.” I said “brother you need to understand that if you run more than twenty yards you made a touchdown. ‘Cause not only can I not chase you down, I will not! I will run the first twenty yards and then wave at you. So I can’t let you get off the line. “Okay.” That’s who we are as Yahweh’s people, you know what I’m saying? We can run ten yards, we can run five yards, we can run twenty yards, but if we have to run over twenty yards, we’re looking for an oxygen bottle and an inhaler. Because like me, we’ve all become fat. We’ve become fat because things have been easy. That’s who the footmen are, and that’s what the land of peace is. Now what Yahweh’s telling Jeremiah, if you can’t even run with the footmen who run slow, in a time of peace, than how are you going to run with the horses in the floodplain of the Jordan where all the creatures who want to eat you are? That’s where the lions, tigers and bears oh my, hang out. And so it’s no wonder that Yahweh’s people…say “I can’t.”

We were working at the plant the other day, and we were pulling concrete. Now I have a deep respect for our Spanish brothers who pull concrete with what they call a yo-yo when it’s 247 degrees outside in the summer time… because you know what, and Steven can verify this, he was screaming “I can’t” too in his head… I know that because I was there shoulder to shoulder with him and that was going through my head “I can’t do this.” But you know what..we did it. Didn’t we Steven? With the wrong tools. But you know what, Yahweh’s people never have the tools they need for the job their given but they have this, they have the Ruach (Holy Spirit). That’s part of understanding who we are…as we’re washed in the blood of Messiah. Verse 6 says: For even your brothers, the house of your father, Even they have dealt treacherously with you; Yes, they have called a multitude after you. Do not believe them, Even though they speak smooth words to you. That’s where we are friends. In this hour, the condition of the body, is we’re a bunch of pear-shaped people trying to run with the footmen in the plain of safety. In Redneck terms, you know what Yahweh’s telling Jeremiah…? Think about it for a minute. Jeremiah’s sitting there crying to Yahweh telling him how He needs to run the universe, and this is what Yahweh’s response is to him, “would you just shut-up and suck it up and get on about the business I have before you.” That’s what He’s saying. He’s saying Jeremiah, it’s been easy for you brother, and you come whining to Me. Now things are getting a little tight? It’s not going the way you think it needs to go? Suck it up… suck it up. How many know you can’t be the light of the world, or the light to the world, when you’re feeling sorry for yourself? When you’re in that poor me stage, remember that’s all about self, you can’t do what Yahweh has for you to do. And then you know what happens? It snowballs. Now remember who Jeremiah is. Now we know who he is because of chapter one right? He is a prophet to the nations. Now, how do you think he would be received if, pardon me brother, stand up for a minute, if he looked like this? (note: very small in stature) Stand up Sam. You think they’d take him more seriously if he looked like Sam? (note: very large in stature) Okay ya’ll can sit down. -That’s no offense brother- But Jeremiah’s a prophet to the nations and one of the things we need to realize, one of the reasons Yahweh gave us Torah, one of the reason he lets us run with the footmen in the plains of safety is so that we can develope. So we can begin to look like Sam… in the Spiritual Realm. Do you understand what I’m saying? It’s to put meat on your bones, and to put muscle in your body. ‘Cause let me tell you something friends, there’s a time comin’, when you think it’s rough now, it’s going to get rough. You think you got issues now? You’re gonna have issues. That’s what the word says. If you don’t know how to run and where to run to, and if you don’t have the muscles to endure, you’re not going to be able to run with the horses. Now think of it this way, if you’ve got to cross a valley that’s full of lions and tigers and bears oh my, how fast do you want to run through that? Do you want to run through it like a horse, or like a man? Come on. Have you ever seen those things on the National Geographic Channel…I know what happens with the lions, with the slow zebras… I’ve seen that. The slow zebras get eat up. I don’t want to get eat up. So, what I’m trying to say is, as we remember who we are, we ought to understand that Yahweh loves us, and He’s orchestrated these things in our life to put muscle, stamina and endurance in us. So that we are a people that don’t say “I can’t”...anymore. But who can say, “I will”? I will. Yahweh’s given us all the tools….that we need. Olive Branch Ministries 972 736 2900

Turn with me to Leviticus 26. I want to give you something to put in your pocket, to burn in your Spirit. When you forget who you are, and life has quit making sense, Yahweh wrote this down for you, for you and for all of us…that we never forget. And it’s kinda cool when you look at the Hebrew on this. Leviticus 26, three through sixteen: 3 ' If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them, Now you know what, we understand that on a physical level. But when things get rough, we lose the Spiritual meaning of this. That’s exactly what Jeremiah was saying in chapter 12. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? You know me Yahweh, I do your statutes and keep Your commandments. In the Spiritual Realm and in the Emotional Realm we don’t get it. We don’t understand what Yahweh means here and we put our own images in there. He says:

' If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them, 4 then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. [And He continues:] 5 Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing; you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

That sounds a whole lot like John 10:10 doesn’t it where Yahshua said “I have come to give you life, and life what? More abundantly. You know that abundant life is a hard thing. When we get in those times of our pity parties and “this isn’t what You told me,” “this isn’t the deal I made with you,” we need to understand the fulness of Spiritual things that Yahweh’s talking about here in Leviticus 26. I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid; I will rid the land of evil beasts, and the sword will not go through your land. 7 You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. 8 Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you. 9 ' For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you. 10 You shall eat the old harvest, and clear out the old because of the new. 11 I will set My tabernacle [My dwelling place is what that means] among you, and My soul [Now this is Yahweh. He says:] and My soul shall not abhor you. 12 I will walk among you and be your Elohim, [and here we go again] and you shall be My people. 13 I am Yahweh your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Mitzraim [Egypt], that you should not be their slaves; I have broken the bands of your yoke and made you walk upright. How many know that’s a promise, from the Almighty, to you right now in the moments of your life? It’s a promise to you, written in the blood of our Messiah. But we lose sight of that. Just as Israel lost sight of it before, Israel loses sight of it today. Now that’s not the only place that it’s written. That is written in Deuteronomy 28 and we call it what? The blessings and the cursings. Yahweh does the same thing here in Leviticus 26. Verse 14 says: ' But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments,
14 15 6

and if you

Now what was Jeremiah doing? You think Jeremiah thought Yahweh’s judgments were out of line? That’s why he wanted to sit down and talk to Him about it. Jeremiah was doing Olive Branch Ministries 972 736 2900

this -- so you do not perform all My commandments, but break My commandments, I will also do this to you. Deuteronomy 28, right here in Leviticus 26. Now what does that mean to us as Yahweh’s people? Let’s take a look at some of these words. Statutes, not statues… okay? Do that “chu” thing for me Ali. There you go, I can’t do that. This is one of those times you do “chu.” Choq, and this is what is means: An enactment (wouldn’t surprise me if the Hebrew’s invented chewing tobacco because they went around going “chu” all the time) An enactment. Now check this out…an appointment of time. What does that make you think of? What about “moadim?” What is a “moed” or a “moadim?” –an appointed time. What is a “miqrah?” A rehearsal; an enactment…do you see the parallels here? In Leviticus 23 Yahweh sets forth His seven “moadim,” and calls them “miqrah(s).” He also says this: They are a statute for you, throughout what? All your generations. Right here Yahweh says “If you walk in My statutes,” I wonder what He’s talking about. Moadim…and keep My commandments. Some translations, the King James says “walk,” and walk My commandments. But either way, either keep or walk is in Hebrew “yalak.” Guess what it means all you theologians. “To walk”… isn’t that cool? Or, “to carry.” What does it mean if Lex is supposed to carry Yahweh’s commandments? …or Sam…or Janna…or you? What does it mean to carry Yahweh’s commandments? Come on now. Carry them out in your life…very good. To walk them out. What do we always talk about? WALK IT OUT. You’ve gotta WALK IT OUT man! You’ve gotta walk it out in the moments of your life. You know that’s why we don’t just study the Scriptural Timekeeping, we walk it out in our lives…don’t we? We sight the first sliver, we know when the seventh day is…that’s why we actually killed a lamb this past Passover. Now we didn’t sacrifice the lamb to fulfill the commandment, but we killed the lamb so that we could walk it out….and that we could fully understand what all Passover was about. You gotta walk it out…”keep My commandments.” Commandments. What’s the Hebrew for commandments? “Mitzvot.” Singular it’s “mitzvah.” What does it mean? A command…right? Collectively, if we called it “mitzvot,” that’s Torah. Now down here where it says “and perform them,” what does that make you think of? It makes me think of the book of James right off the bat…right? “Be doers of the Word and not only hearers.” What “Word” was James talking about? Brit Chadasha (New Testament) didn’t even exist then did it? James was talking about Torah, be “doers” of Torah, not just hearers. Be doers of the Word. Some translations instead of perform is “keep” and “do.” It’s really two Hebrew words. “Shamar,” which means “to hedge about or guard,” and “asah.” Shamar asah, which means “to do or make,” it’s an action. So as we perform them, as we keep and do,what, the statutes and the commandments, we’re supposed to guard them. Why are we supposed to guard them? “Cause they get threatened all the time. Somebody flip to Numbers 15:37 about the tzittzit. That’s one of the reasons I wear tzittzit. I wear these so I never forget who I am. Numbers 15:37 37 Again Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 38 "Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. 39 "And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of Yahweh and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, 40 "and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your Elohim. 41 "I am Yahweh your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your Elohim: I am Yahweh your Elohim."

Amen. So did you get that? Yahweh didn’t command us in Numbers 15 to tie these tassels on just so we look cool, and everbody goes “hey what’s the deal with the string?” He did this an an aide, so that we can walk this out, so we never forget who we are, so that we never get to the point that Jeremiah, and that we all get to in the moments of our life. Do you see that? So we don’t develope the attitude “we can’t.” It’s so that we remember. And too many times we tie these tzittzit on, and we forget why we tied them on. It’s to help us remember. It’s not some religious thing. You know what? When Yahweh created us, He knew what was going to happen in the fall, and He knew that after the fall we were going to forget who we are. I mean after all we forgot the Sabbath… didn’t we? We forgot the other moadim. We forgot the commandments. When they came out of Babylon and they discovered the Torah Scroll they said “oh look what we can do.” Because they forgot. When they came out of Mitzraim, Egypt, they forgot. 435 years, it doesn’t take me that long to forget. Takes me a matter of minutes sometimes. We need to remember who we are and put that in our pocket, because we are not a defeated people. Verse 11 in Leviticus 26, something very special to me Yahweh lays out there, and I want you to know it. Part of the reason, in Jeremiah chapter 12, that we get in the state we get in, is because we forget who Yahweh is. And we think “He’ll never see our end, He’s not even concerned about us, look at…after all if we served a loving Elohim I wouldn’t be going through this right now….and we think He’s just this wooo thing floating around but in Leviticus 26 verse 11 this is what He says 11 I will set My tabernacle [My dwelling place] among you, [and listen to this] and My soul [My soul, My, Yahweh’s soul] shall not abhor you. Now friends, do you understand what that’s saying? That the soul of the Almighty, does anyone but Ali know what the Hebrew word for “soul” is? Very good…“nefesh.” And what does it mean Ali? Soul. A living breathing being. When Yahweh breathed the breathe of life in Adam’s nostrils, he made him what…a nefesh…Yahweh said My soul, My, I, Yahweh, My nefesh, My living, breathing self, will not abhor you. In other words, Yahweh’s saying, I am not this wooo thing floating around in the universe. I am living, I am breathing, and I am your Mighty One. Now friends that makes it personal. And He’s the One, that’s saying Tom, put this in your pocket, ‘cause I know it’s going to get rough. And I know you’re going to want to quit. But remember who you are. Family back when I was still living at home before I got kicked out, and I was out being wild, my mother knew what I was doing. I didn’t think she did. But moms have this thing, Yahweh gave them an eye in the back of their head or something…that… they know. And you know what my mother used to tell me before I went out? She say this…She’d say “Tom, I love you, remember who you are.” Family let me tell you this…remember who you are…don’t ever give up…and never say I can’t. Philipians 4:13 says this: “13 I can do all things through Messiah who strengthens me.” Yes you can. Let’s Pray. Father we just thank you today, that you made us overcomers. Father that… that you are our Mighty One, and we are…Your people. Father I ask that You renew our minds….that we never forget….that You brand this word on our hearts. That we always remember. Father for those who wear the tzittzit, let it be a reminder in their soul, and for those who don’t…Father I pray that you put it on them….that they never forget. Father I thank you for being our Elohim today….that you wash us in the blood of the Messiah…that you redeem back the time…and that you hold us up with Your Mighty Right Hand…I thank you for it in Yahshua’s Name…Amen.
