In a volatile eBook market it is not enough to write an excellent book and put it on eBay for sale. In order to earn a good profit it is crucial that you price the book most strategically. Determining an exorbitant price may repel potential buyers whereas a very low price may not give you the profit you have been aspiring to. So, pricing strategy is like the art of balancing. Proverbially speaking, it is the art of walking on a razor's edge. A slight tilt in the wrong way could cause injuries to you. To start off, evaluate the potential of your eBook by asking yourself how relevant the subject of your book is and what kind of readers you are targeting. If you are confident and convinced about its success you may prefer to keep its sole rights and hope to make a good profit from comparatively higher up-front payments. Alternatively, you may decide to offer resale rights and be content with lower profits on each sale, keeping the option of making affiliate commissions. If you are convinced that you have written something refreshingly new that, has the potential of attracting the attention of readers, as well as benefiting them, you would do well to set a high price without offering resale rights. This would help you retain the value of your book and avoid competition.

However, you may go for granting resale rights if you have projected yourself in your eBook as a potential affiliate of other products or services. In that case you would be advised to charge a lower price to ensure that your product reaches the maximum number of potential customers helping you earn a good deal of affiliate commissions. Before you determine a price for your eBook it is imperative that you are outright clear about the objective of your book. Ask yourself what the volume of monetary benefit would be if a prospective reader were to follow your advice described in your book. If the expected amount of money would only help a potential reader make both ends meet he or she wouldn't be willing to spend a fortune on buying your low profile book. What is most important is that while selling your eBook with resale rights make sure you don't sell it at such a low price as to prevent other sellers from making any profit. On the contrary, if you sell it for let's say $8 then the next seller can sell it for $7. Here the point is: don't do anything that may ruin the marketability of your eBook.

You may not have realized it yet, but the majority of ebook sellers on eBay don't actually write their own ebooks. Some sellers may commission other writers to draft ebooks for them, but this can be an expensive route to take. Instead, most sellers purchase ebooks from other sources, and resell them on eBay over and over for a profit. They can do this because they purchase resale rights, which allows them to sell the ebook to as many people as they want. Selling ebooks with resale rights taps a new market that is rarely ventured upon. You are actually selling a product to sellers, who in essence, are doing the work for you. Instead of marketing your ebook all over the internet, hoping for a sale, you can market your ebook to sellers looking to get their start on eBay, and let them handle the rest. There are some restrictions you should consider, however.

Many sellers who are looking to purchase new ebooks for resale are looking for master resale rights. Master resale rights allow the buyer of your ebook to sell the ebook with resale rights to someone else. You may think this is unimportant, but you could lose sales by giving someone else permission to pass along resale rights. Restricting resale rights for your buyers can keep your profits up, without creating competition for yourself with your own ebook. Most ebooks are sold with normal resale rights, which is the method you should consider using. Normal resale rights allow your buyer to resell the ebook they have purchased from you, but it doesn't allow their buyers to resell the ebook themselves. With normal resale rights, your buyers can sell as many copies of your ebook as they want, but their buyers have to purchase from you if they want to sell the ebook themselves. Catering to the sellers who want to get into selling ebooks on eBay can be a great way to make money while working from home. Whether you draft your own ebooks, commission ebooks to be written for you, or simply purchase master rights to someone else's ebook, you'll have a never ending market of buyers to sell to. You don't have to stop at one ebook, either; as your business increases in popularity, you can add additional ebooks to your inventory. Since ebooks never get old, you can build up an extensive inventory as you grow. The more ebooks you have to offer, the more money you will obviously bring in. And the marketing is practically done for you - everyone is looking for something to sell on eBay, and you'll be the one offering it!
