Tundra Trekkers’ Blog What is a blog? A blog is an online place for you to put your thoughts, opinions, and ideas. A blog is a place for people to hear your voice, and it blog should sound like just like you. A blog can be interactive, because it is posted on the Internet. Other students can comment on what you have to say. Avoiding typos in a blog is important, because a blog is a reflection of you. Good blogs are magic on the screen that other people want to read! What is the big idea of the blog? Your blog will be about your personal experiences during the Tundra Trekkers Walk/Run Project as you try to eat your vegetables, drink your water, consume a healthy breakfast, and exercise 60 minutes each day. What specifically should you write about? Day One • What was your reaction when we told you what we were doing today? • Did your attitude change throughout the activity? • Are you in shape? Was today’s walk difficult or simple? • Do you have an active role model? • Do friends in family get in the way or your health or help promote it? Exercise • How do you rate your effort exercising today? What kind of workout was it? • Do you feel better than you did yesterday when you exercised? • Did anything about the weather, air temperature, type of music you were listening to, personal emotions, awakeness level, etc. improve or decrease your performance today? • Did you do any exercise outside of the regular class time? Do you find a friend to exercise with you? How did this help or hinder you? Healthy Eating • In the last 24 hours, did you eat at least 2 fruits and 3 vegetables? Tell about your success or failure. • In the last 24 hours, did you eat junk food? Was it out of control or limited portions? • What made it easy or more difficult for you to reach the class goal of eating better? • Were you able to find a friend to work on this project with you? How did this help or hinder you? Overall Health • Did you feel better or worse on a day when you ate well than on the day you didn’t? • Did you feel better or worse on a day when you exercised or didn’t? Over Time • Do you feel better since beginning this project? Explain how this makes you feel. • Have you lost weight since beginning this project? Explain how this makes you feel. • Do you feel healthier since beginning this project? • What do you think is your success and failure as far as this project is concerned? I will continue to add to this list of questions as the project progresses. Each day, you may be given an additional question to reflect on.
