The Two Family Trees
By Ammini Verbeek
1. The Tree of Life (represents Jesus Christ)
2. The Tree of the knowledge of good and evil (represents Satan)
The first commandment of God was not to eat from the Tree of the
knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve disobeyed this
commandment and as a result they were separated from the source
of Life. Death, Darkness and Blindness came to all mankind
through Adam’s disobedience or sin, because Adam was the father
of all humanity.
How did Adam disobey God? Adam chose his own way. He made
a decision independent of God and sinned against God.
Sin is lawlessness. “Through one man sin entered the world and
death through sin and this way death came to all men”(Romans:
Adam believed the words of Satan and acted accordingly and the
nature of Satan entered into Adam and his descendants.
Now, man began to depend on his soul for wisdom and knowledge
because man was separated from God without hope.
God had a plan from before the foundation of the world therefore
the Plan of redemption of mankind was not an afterthought with
God. “For He chose us “in Him before the creation of the world”
to be holy and blameless in His sight “(Ephesians: 1:4).
Eve was deceived by Satan’s words of lies. Adam was not deceived
but he chose to believe the words of Satan through Eve. God held
Adam accountable for the sin and the fall of man. (2Timothy:2:14)
The Wages of sin is death (Romans: 6:23). Death came to Adam’s
soul through the knowledge of good and evil. Adam also received
the disobedient spirit and nature of Satan. God banished them from
His presence. God created Adam in His image; however, God was

not the father of Adam.
God dealt with Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, the nation of Israel
through Covenants with them. There is a lot of history with the
people of Israel; they were called the chosen of God and not the
children of God.
What does it mean to be born again?
Jesus said “you must be born again“(John: 3:3-7)
“I will tell you the truth unless a man is born again, he cannot see
the kingdom of God”. (John 3:3)
Natural Birth: “Flesh gives birth to flesh” (John; 3:6)
We are born into the family of Adam. As a result we too had the
Satan or Sin nature in us just as Adam had it.
We needed a change of position by rebirthing.
Spiritual Birth: “But the Spirit gives birth to spirit” (John 3:6)
It is an exchanged life, by believing in Jesus Christ
Born again: Into the family of God through Christ Jesus.
Death for Life.
Sin for Righteousness.
Law for Grace.
Through the Cross of Jesus Christ God has liberated us from death
to Life in Christ Jesus .We became partakers of the divine nature in
Christ Jesus, who also represents the Tree of Life. (2 Peter 1:4)
