What is a Wiki
Wiki comes from the Hawaiian term “quick”. It is a website that can be updated by anyone at anytime. It allows visitors to add, edit and change content. It also allows for linking among any number of pages. It is a collaboration of work from many authors. TO JOIN THIS WIKI – GO INTO http://cameastlibry.wikispaces.com then click onto wikispaces in the upper right hand corner of your window to first get free ID. You will see a box on the right hand side asking for: User name Password Email address Use your real name as the user name. Wikispaces will also give you the option to create a new wikispace. Just say no. ONCE YOU HAVE ENTERED YOUR INFORMATION CLICK ON JOIN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX. Now that you have become a wiki member you can then go back to the wiki for Cambridge East library and click on “join this space” which is at the top of the navigation bar on the left of the page. By clicking on join this space you are requesting membership to the libraries wiki. Then click on request membership. Wikispaces will send me and e-mail, and I will approve it. Once you above done all of the above, you will be able to then: Introduce your self. Click on the home page in the navigation bar on the left hand side. Once the home page appears (picture of librarian) you can then click on discussion tab above and post a message. Each page has a discussion. You could start a discussion with other students in the pages suggestion box, fun stuff, book display, book reviews and ask a student librarian. ASK YOUR PARENTS TO HELP YOU. HAVE A THINK OF WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY. HOW TO ADD CONTENTS If you want to have something changed or added just let me know.

Do it yourself. You can only edit a page if you have become a wikispace member. It is FREE. Students you can add content to the suggestion box, fun stuff, book display’s, book reviews and ask a student librarian only. Find the page you wish to add your information to and click on the EDIT BUTTON (see picture above). at the top right hand corner of the page. An edit box will appear with text inside it. Add your information then click preview down the bottom of page. Once you are happy with what you have added, click the SAVE button. If you do not click on SAVE, the information you have added will not show on that page.
