Registration and LOI FAQ
Who should register with the system in order to submit an application, and how many people can have access to an application? There are only two roles that can edit applications in PRIMO: Registrant and Authorized Representative (AR). The registrant does not need to be the Project Director (PD); it could be an assistant, co-investigator, etc. However, only the Registrant (the person who starts the application) and any assigned AR’s will have access to the application in PRIMO. If, for example, both a PD and his/her assistant wanted to be able to edit an application, they would each need to have access to the username and password setup for the account during registration. It is at the discretion of the applicant whether he/she chooses to share login information with others in order to complete an application. I am going to be the Authorized Representative (AR) for an application submitted by my institution; do I need to register with the system? When the applicant enters your contact information in the AR section of the application (including an email address), an email will be sent to you requesting your participation. By selecting the link embedded in the email, you are accepting the role as AR. If you have already registered using the same email address to which the invitation was sent, the new application will automatically link to your account. If not, you can set up login information upon acceptance of your role as an AR. I registered in PRIMO and received the email to log in to the system, but the provided link is not working; the system generates a "Confirmation String Invalid" message. What should I do? The URL that verifies you as a user of the system may be broken into two lines in the email message you received. Make sure that you copy and paste the entire link into your browser's URL address bar. Please note that once you have entered you new password, you will need to return to the login screen to enter your username (the email address you registered with) and password before you can start a new application. When I login to the system, I cannot locate the link to submit my letter of intent (LOI) You do not need to login or be registered with the system in order to submit an LOI. The link to do so is located in the Application Submission section of the home page and reads “Click here to submit an LOI for FY2009.” How can I view my letter of intent (LOI) after it has been submitted? Since you do not have to be registered or logged in to submit an LOI, a submitted letter is unalterable and no longer viewable. Please be aware that these LOI are used for planning purposes and are not required, therefore, they are not binding. If you need a copy of your submitted letter of intent, please contact the IES helpdesk to request an electronic version via email.
