Paintball FAQ’s
What is provided with the Xtreme Package? o 2 hours of field time facilitated by our staff (see further info on this below) o Tippman 98 Custom paintball gun with 200 paintballs o Crossfire 47 cubic inch 3000 PSI Compressed Air (HPA) tank o Full face mask Can I bring my own equipment to your field? What is the cost if I bring my own equipment? o We do not allow fully automatic paintball guns at our field, but feel free to bring any other equipment you have. o We require that you use our paint, so please leave your own paint at home. o If you have your own gun we will charge you the reduced package rate of $15.00 for the session. If you need to rent an HPA tank it will cost an additional $4.00 (full) and mask rental is an additional $2.00. How long will the 200 rounds provided with ARCG’s Xtreme package last me? o The guns are capable of shooting multiple balls per second, so you could shoot all 200 paint balls in just a matter of minutes. o On the other hand, if you are a very conservative defensive sniper you might not go through all of your ammo before the day is done! o On average the 200 provided paintballs usually get players through the first game or two, but they will restock with more paint for the third and final game, which is usually a bit longer than the first two games. What kind of air do you use in your tanks? o We use compressed air, or HPA (High Pressure Air), not CO2. o We allow CO2 and Nitrogen, but can only refill Compressed Air or High Pressure Air (HPA) tanks. How long will one tank of air last, and how much is a refill? o We use 3,000 PSI tanks which will last at least through the provided 200 rounds, if not double that amount. Additional air can be purchased at the field at a rate of $1.00 per 500 PSI, or a full refill for $4.00. What is the danger of coming into contact with Poison Oak on the field? o Our “woods course” is naturally inhabited by many beautiful Madrone, Redwood, Fir, Oak, and California Bay trees. Unfortunately, it is also in an area where Poison Oak grows naturally, so it is very difficult to assure that all Poison Oak has been removed from the course. o We spray multiple times a season and are always on the lookout for new growth, nevertheless it is not a bad idea to wear light-weight layers that cover all of your skin if you want to be more fully protected. o For the extremely allergic or very nervous we recommend simply sticking to the many areas of the field which are obviously free of any hostile vegetation. ☺ What is the nature of the ARCG Paintball Field? o Our ~4 acre woods course covers the full range of terrain from completely flat ground to very steep slopes. It is possible to play entirely on flat ground if that is your preference, but for those who are up to the challenge, bring your hill climbing shoes so you can cover a wider range of the course. o Due to the rocky nature of the field players must have sturdy closed-toe shoes. No flip flops or sandals allowed. Will I get bruises and welts if I am hit with a paintball? o It is entirely possible that you will get hit with a paintball at some point during the game. The resulting pain from that hit is a combination of the distance from which the paintball was fired at you and the amount of clothing between the ball and your skin at the point of contact.
o If you wear more clothing and play more of a defensive sniper role you run less risk of being hit at all. The more aggressively you play, the greater your chances of a somewhat painful hit. Being hit on bare skin stings and will probably leave a small red mark for a couple of days. o To eliminate very painful close-range hits we have in effect a “Surrender Rule.” This rule allows people to capture opposing team members without firing a shot if they are within a ten foot radius and simply yell “Surrender!” The first player to yell surrender when inside of that ten foot radius with an opposing player emerges victorious. o If players abide by the surrender rule there is much less chance of hits that are hard enough to bruise. Will the paint wash out of my clothes? o The paint is water soluble, but should be washed out soon after the session so as to ensure it will not stain. o There is no guarantee that the paint will not leave a stain, so it is best to wear old grubbier clothes that can get a little bit dirty. How long will we play for? o The minimum paintball session time is two hours on account of the safety briefing that will be given prior to play and the process of returning equipment at the end of the session. This will allow for a minimum of three 15-25 minute games if the group arrives promptly at the beginning of the scheduled session. o Due to the slightly variable nature of a paintball session, it is advised that some time cushion is allowed between the end of the paintball session and the beginning of the next activity. Group schedulers may want to allow at least one half hour before the next scheduled activity, if not more. Can I rent additional equipment from ARCG’s field? o In addition to the equipment provided with the Xtreme Package, we can rent out a limited number of pod belts (with pods), and chest armor vests (esp. nice for the ladies), on a first come, first served basis. o Pod Belts (with three 140 round pods) can be rented at a rate of $3.00 per session with a deposit of either $3.00 or some form of collateral that will be returned when the gear is turned back in to the ARCG paintball staff. o Chest Armor is also available for rental at the rate of $3.00 per session with deposit. What is the FPS (feet per second) limit for guns on the ARCG field? o Our guns are clocked to fire at an average speed of 275 feet per second. o We will chrono personal guns at the field prior to playing and adjust them as necessary if they exceed our stated speed limit. Do you allow the use of Airsoft guns on the ARCG field? o We do not allow Airsoft guns on are field as they are intended for target use only and not for team competition. Airsoft guns, which shoot 6mm yellow plastic balls are not covered by our insurance company so please do not bring them to camp. What are the rules for the ARCG paintball course? o They are similar to other paintball fields, but for details please check out our field rules and our safety briefing if you have any specific questions about the rules of our course.
