What is “Pay to Play?” “Pay to play” is a concept that will allow University Sports to say “YES” to students with new sport or recreational initiatives. The concept is simple. Students who may want to begin an activity just need to take the initiative to secure a qualified instructor/advisor/coach who is serve as an “Independent Agent.” Students will then secure the funding to pay for the services of the “Agent” (if any). Once this is done, the initiative is presented to University Sports. If the Agent is qualified and approved by the appropriate AUB authority, then University Sports will work with the students and Agent to support the initiative by scheduling the activity in at the CHSC and assist in promoting it on campus. That’s it! This concept will allow students to engage in a significantly larger number of fitness and recreational activity than could otherwise be provided by University Sports. It also allows students to initiate the activities they are interested in. A second component of the “Pay to Play” concept is where University Sports initiates the activity to encourage greater campus and student participation. This could be a wide range of activities from a day ski trip, an ongoing fitness program or instruction in a specific area or topic. In these instances, the cost of the event is paid for by the participants, with University Sports serving as the sponsor or catalyst and in some instances providing facilities. These types of activities will e posted on the University Sport website and widely announced via other campus media resources. With both components, we hope you will participate and enjoy!
