What is it? Q: What is T-Mobile @Home? A: T-Mobile @Home is the $10-a-month* home phone for T-Mobile customers designed for those who want to keep their home phone but say goodbye to expensive home phone bills. Q: What are the primary benefits of T-Mobile @Home? A: T-Mobile @Home provides a range of features that includes unlimited nationwide calling, voicemail, caller ID, and the convenience of keeping your current home phone number. Q: What features come with T-Mobile @Home? A: T-Mobile @Home features include: unlimited nationwide calls, voicemail, caller ID, call forwarding, call waiting, 3-way conferencing and hold calls. How does it work? Q: What do customers need in order to use T-Mobile @Home? A: Customers will need the following: • Existing high-speed Internet connection • T-Mobile @Home HiPort™ Wireless Router • A qualifying T-Mobile rate plan on your mobile phone • A standard touch-tone home phone • T-Mobile @Home service with a 2 year agreement Q: How easy is this to set up? A: T-Mobile @Home sets up almost instantly. An easy-to-use installation CD is included with each HiPort Wireless Router that walks you through the process step-by-step. Q: What if I try to set up the service and have a problem? A: If you have any problems, you can call 6-1-1 from any T-Mobile wireless phone. You may also call Customer Care toll free at 800-937-8997. When calling, please use your mobile phone instead of the home phone in question. How will it affect my current setup? Q: I want T-Mobile @Home, but I have a fax machine. What can I do? A: Consider an Internet-based fax service. It allows you to send and receive faxes using your computer instead of requiring a fax machine or phone line. Q: I want T-Mobile @Home, but I have a home security system, building intercom, DIRECTV, or TiVo that require a landline. What can I do? A: Many of these items have a wireless or Internet alternative, or you can keep a separate landline but change to the “basic service” and still use T-Mobile @Home for all your calling needs. Even with the additional charge of the basic service, coupled with T Mobile @Home, your combined monthly cost may still be less, and that includes unlimited nationwide long distance. Please be aware, however, that the basic service from the landline phone company most likely will not cover long distance charges. Please contact your landline and service companies before pursuing this option. Q: What if I don't want to give up my existing router? Can I plug the T-Mobile @Home HiPort™ Wireless Router into my existing router? A: To get the benefits of T-Mobile @Home, you must use the T-Mobile @Home HiPort Router. It has built-in features that are not available in other wireless routers on the market. These features include: • Prioritization of voice calls over other Internet traffic to ensure clear calls • Enhanced troubleshooting support from Customer Care If you'd like to keep your existing router, we recommend plugging the T-Mobile @Home HiPort Wireless Router into your current internet connection, then plug your current router into the HiPort™ Router to ensure optimal prioritization of voice calls. Q: Will the HiPort™ Wireless Router really be as reliable as my landline? A: The T-Mobile @Home HiPort Router will provide you with top-quality service and includes a one-year warranty to ensure trouble-free operation. Q: Do customers have to have broadband Internet service for T-Mobile @Home? A: Yes. Q: Can I drop my current phone line and keep my DSL Internet service? A: It depends on your current landline provider; some do provide stand-alone DSL service. You can also switch to a different broadband Internet provider, such as cable or fiber optics. T-Mobile @Home does not work with satellite and wireless broadband Internet (including ClearWire). How much is T-Mobile @Home? Q: How much does the plan cost? A: T-Mobile @Home costs $10-a–month* when added to a post-paid single-line mobile plan $39.99 or higher, or a family mobile plan $49.99 or higher (new 2year agreement required). In addition to the mobile plan, you will need the TMobile @Home HiPort™ Wireless Router that costs $50 (plus tax) Q: What mobile rate plans are ineligible for T-Mobile @Home? A: Most of our plans are eligible. However, some plans, such as post-paid plans under $39.99 for individuals and under $49.99 for family plans; FlexPay(sm), Prepaid, SmartAccess, kidConnect® are not eligible. How long does it take to activate? Q: How will my existing landline number be transferred to T-Mobile @Home? A: T-Mobile Customer Care can take care of transferring your existing landline number. Please keep in mind that you will lose any saved or existing voicemails or personal greetings. Q: How long does it take to transfer? A: Transferring service averages six days but can take up to 10 days. You can continue using your current landline service until your number is transferred. Q: How will I know when my service has been transferred successfully? A: You will receive a text message on your T-Mobile cell phone with an estimated date and time of when the new service will be activated. You will also receive a 2nd text message when the transfer is complete. International Calling Q: How do I get International Discounted Calling for T-Mobile @Home? A: T-Mobile @Home International Discounted Calling is an add-on component to your existing T-Mobile @Home plan. It’s designed to let you keep in touch with your international friends and family without expensive home phone bills. Q: What are the benefits of T-Mobile @Home International Discounted Calling? A: For just $5 a month more, T-Mobile @Home International Discounted Calling gives you the best international calling rates of any national wireless/wireline carriers†, with rates starting as low as 5 cents a minute to Europe and includes unlimited calls to Puerto Rico. Q: What do I need to take advantage of the T-Mobile @Home International Discounted Calling rates? A: Before taking advantage of our international discounted calling rates for just $5 more a month, you need to first add T-Mobile @Home service for $10 a month* to any single-line mobile plan $39.99 or higher, or any family mobile plan $49.99 or higher. What services are available? Q: Which T-Mobile services are available with T-Mobile @Home? A: CallerTunes® is available as an add-on service for home phone usage. CallerTunes lets your friends and family hear your favorite song when they call you. You will also have 4-1-1 calling. Additional charges apply for these services. Q: Which T-Mobile services are not available with T-Mobile @Home? A: As with any home phone, text messaging, picture messaging, games, ringtones, wallpaper, and t-zones® are not available. Q: Is T-Mobile-to-T-Mobile calling available? A: If your mobile phone plan includes this feature, calls made to your T Mobile @Home phone are already unlimited. You can also call any T-Mobile customer who has T-Mobile-to-T-Mobile calling from your T-Mobile @Home phone and they will not be charged for these minutes. Q: Will T-Mobile @Home allow for international calling? What are the restrictions? A: You can place international calls from the US, however, international long distance rates will apply. You can also get the best international rates (as compared to national wireless/wireline carriers) for just $5 more a month†. TMobile@Home International Discounted Calling gives you: • Rates up to 80% lower than our “Basic Rates” • Unlimited calls to Puerto Rico is included • Calls to Canada for only 4 cents a minute • Rates starting as low as 5 cents a minute to Europe Questions about your home phone Q: Can I use my own phone number? A: Yes. You can port your home phone number to T-Mobile so that family and friends can continue to call you at the same familiar home phone number. Check your number's eligibility to transfer (http://www.tmobile.com/switch/default.aspx?WT.mc_t=micro&WT.mc_n=TatHome_FAQs_po rtability). Q: Can I use my existing phone with T-Mobile @Home? A: Most touchtone landline phones will work with the new plan. We recommend the VTech® cordless phone that works well with T-Mobile @Home. Q: Why would I want to buy the VTech cordless phone? A: The VTech phone offers clearer reception and a wider range than typical cordless phones, plus it doesn’t interfere with household appliances. Additionally, we've configured it to offer customers easy access to T-Mobile services including T-Mobile Voice Mail and Customer Care. Q: Will the experience be similar to using a landline phone? Will I hear a dial tone? A: Yes. When you plug your home phone in to the T-Mobile @Home HiPort™ Wireless Router, it will basically work as if you plugged the phone into the wall, with a few upgrades. You will see a blue light on the front of the HiPort Router that blinks when there is a voicemail message, and you will also be able to contact T-Mobile Customer Care directly by dialing 6-1-1 from your phone. 9-1-1 calling Q: What is required for 9-1-1 calls? A: We need to capture and store customer-provided emergency addresses (the street address where the T-Mobile @Home HiPort™ Wireless Router is located while using the T-Mobile @Home service). It is critical that T-Mobile obtains the most up-to-date 9-1-1 address from the customer, in order to enable 9-1-1 emergency services. In general, T-Mobile @Home 9-1-1 calls will be handled like any other 9-1-1 phone call on T-Mobile's network. Q: Is address information required with the purchase of T-Mobile @Home? A: Yes. Registration of your physical address where the home phone service will be used must be entered at the point of sale when activating a new line or adding the service to an existing account. You can also complete registration on My TMobile.com or by calling Customer Care. Registration is required to complete the set-up of your service. Otherwise, without a registered 9-1-1 address the HiPort Wireless Router will not be able to get a dial tone. To ensure validity, TMobile verifies the entered address using a postal address validity tool. Q: How do I change my 9-1-1 address? A: You can update your 9-1-1 address at any time at my.t-mobile.com, or by calling Customer Care.
