Could you alone donate over $550,000 annually to support various organizations throughout the Reform Movement? It would be very difficult… But every year, with the support of individuals and sisterhoods, Women of Reform Judaism accomplishes this through our YES Fund. So, what is the YES Fund? YOUTH! • Funding for high school (NFTY) and college-age (KESHER) programming • Financial support for an Eisendrath Legislative Assistant at the Religious Action Center in Washington, DC It’s E It’s DUCATION! • Rabbinic scholarship aid for: • Students studying at the three Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) campuses in the U.S. • Israeli students studying at the Jerusalem campus of HUC-JIR • Rabbinic scholarships to individual World Union for Progressive Judaism students • Grants to outstanding cantorial students at the School of Sacred Music at the New York campus of HUC-JIR • Scholarships for future temple administrators and educators studying at HUC-JIR SPECIAL PROJECTS! • Special services to local sisterhoods • Special programs supported by WRJ grants such as: • Union for Reform Judaism’s • • • • • • • program to recognize and prevent self-abusive behavior in youth A Reform conversion center in Israel A program to encourage secular, Jewish, Israeli girls to become a bat mitzvah An outreach program to Israeli preschool families who may have little knowledge of Reform Jewish practices An Israeli synagogue’s after-school program for at-risk children A healing guide for women with cancer by the Mayyim Hayyim Living Waters Mikveh and Education Center in Massachusetts A “War on Hunger” program for children and families in Haifa, Israel Funding to help train faculty at the Hatikva Day School, the first Reform Jewish day school in Belarus It’s Can my sisterhood support the YES Fund? • YES! Sisterhood support of the YES Fund is strongly encouraged • The YES Fund is supported only by contributions • Your sisterhood can strive to reach a YES Fund Honor Level each fiscal year and win a coveted YES Fund Award every two years! How can my sisterhood achieve a YES Fund Honor Level? It’s easy! 1.Contribute directly to the YES Fund 2.Purchase YES Fund products such as Uniongrams and note cards How do I figure out my sisterhood ’s YES Fund Honor Level? 1. At the end of the fiscal year (June 30) add up your sisterhood’s: YES Fund Contributions + Paid YES Fund Purchases 2. Divide this total dollar amount by the number of your sisterhood’s paid-up WRJ members 3. The resulting average = YES Fund Honor Level! YES Fund Honor Levels Roll of Chai Honor: per member $18.00+ Roll of Special Merit: $10.00-$17.99 per member Roll of Honor: $5.00-$9.99 per member What if I want to personally support the YES Fund? You can: • Contribute annually to Circle of Service to help support the YES Fund’s current programs • Contribute regularly to the Lifeline Endowment Fund to ensure the YES Fund’s future programs Circle of Service? What’s that? Your annual individual contribution to Circle of Service strengthens Reform Judaism in your community, in Israel, and throughout the world by supporting YES Fund projects of TODAY! Ongoing contributions to Circle of Service allow WRJ to continue today’s ongoing financial support of programs that carry out our mission. Levels at which to contribute annually: $36 $90 $180 $360 $1,000 Tell me more about Lifeline! Lifeline supports YES Fund projects of TOMORROW! Contributing to WRJ’s Lifeline program links you to a worldwide network of individuals who are committed to organizations supported by the YES Fund and who want to ensure the future of Reform Judaism. The annual interest of the Lifeline Endowment Fund is used to support YES Fund projects; the corpus of the fund remains intact. Lifeline levels: Silver: $1,800 Gold: $5,000 Pearl: $10,000 Diamond: $18,000 over 3 yrs over 4 yrs over 5 yrs over 6 yrs Remember! NEW Lifeline levels and NEW policy: Silver: $1,800 Gold: $5,000 Pearl: $10,000 Diamond: $18,000 over 3 yrs over 4 yrs over 5 yrs over 6 yrs Until June 30, 2008, you may increase your current Lifeline level to a higher Lifeline level by pledging the difference between your current Lifeline level and the new Lifeline level. The new Lifeline level must be completed within the specified time frame for that higher level. After July 1, 2008, your new Lifeline pledges will need to be completed in full within the specified time frame for each level. Previous Lifeline contributions will not be counted toward your new Lifeline pledges. With YOUR HELP and the help of YOUR SISTERHOOD, SISTERHOOD Women of Reform Judaism raised over $500,000 last year for the YES Fund. This year, we can exceed that amount!
