MINISTRY TEAM APPLICATION Warning : The following is guaranteed to change your life! What is ministry team? Ministry team is discipleship training for teens ready to learn how to affect their peers for Christ. It is a high commitment, high accountability group unlike any other within the youth ministry. People joining Ministry Team commit to regular participation in the 180 Ministries programs on Wednesday nights and to meetings on Sunday afternoons. What do we do at Ministry Team? At every Ministry Team, Bible Study and prayer will be the focus. We meet from 3-6pm two Sundays a month. The first hour varies in content, but focuses on specific ministry tasks relating to Breaking Point services. The second hour is dedicated to deeper Bible Study and discipleship and the third hour is spent in worship and prayer. Why should I join Ministry Team? The number one reason you should join ministry team is to be challenged in your faith like never before. You will be held to a high level of commitment to Jesus Christ and will be better equipped to aid in the process with Jesus of changing your friends’ and families’ eternal destiny. If you enjoy the comfortable life of Christianity, then Ministry Team IS NOT for you. If you want more and sense that there is another step for you to take, you have the application right in your hand. HOW DO I KNOW WHEN I AM READY FOR MINISTRY TEAM? Great question. If you are asking yourself this question, you have a great start. Below are character qualities for you to review. If you can generally say “that’s me” to the below statements, then I think M-Team might be for you. Ministry Training Qualities 1. I no longer just want to be ministered to, but want to minister to others. 2. I no longer want to be served, but want to serve others. 3. I no longer just want to be taught, but want to teach others. Ask yourself these questions: 1. Do I have a desire to share with others what God is doing in my life? 2. Do I have a burden to meet the needs of other people? 3. Do I feel that I need to learn to better apply the Christian principles that I’ve learned over the years? I think I am ready! How do I join Ministry Team? 1. Applications are accepted roughly every six months. Read through this packet and turn it in during the next two weeks. 2. When you have turned in your application to PJ, immediately set up a meeting with him. The interview is not to convince me that you should get in. It is for me to look over your application with you and to pray for you. * Behavior Expectations *        A commitment to refrain from any dating relationships while a part of Ministry Team. Live an authentic Christian life in private, at home, in church, in school, and at work. While at youth meetings and activities, you should seek to display a maturing role of leadership as an example to those around you. Seek to encourage participation, assist those in charge, greet and welcome new people, and disassociate yourself with your clique of friends. As a member you are to help hold other M-team students accountable for personal growth and completion of ministry assignments. You are expected to be contacting both youth group members and preChristians regularly outside of programmed events. Demonstrate growth in Christ through a regular time in God’s Word and prayer. Refrain from situations that compromise the depth of your character. (Ex. Types of dancing, drinking, etc.) What exactly will I be committing to on a regular basis? 1. Ministry Team meeting will be a very high priority in your life. Ministry Team meets at different homes two Sundays a month from 3-6pm 2. Ministry Team will have 1 or 2 retreats each year as required activities. 3. You must commit to attendance at Wednesday night BREAKING POINT at 7:00pm. 4. You must commit to attendance of church and Sunday school at CFMC. 5. You must commit to being a part of a small group. 6. Your commitment to Ministry Team will last 6 months at which time you will review with PJ your commitment to the group and effectiveness in ministry. You may then choose to continue for another six-month term or stop your participation. 7. You are committing to be responsible to attendance! For Ministry Team members this means contacting PJ prior to each time you cannot participate in required activities described above. 8. You commit to full participation while at Ministry Team meetings. Now if you desire to be on Ministry Team, keep these first four pages and return the rest of the application pages to PJ signed by you and your parents. This covenant is understood to be for a period of six months, at which time it may be reviewed and renewed or terminated. IT IS UNDERSTOOD that this commitment is made in priority to other extra curricular activities and responsibilities I may have. It is further understood that should I miss Ministry Team meetings 3 times without acceptable excuse, my position on the Ministry Team will be surrendered. Acceptable excuses will be solely determined by the leadership of the youth group. Homework, household responsibilities and free time should be properly scheduled and planned so as not to interrupt ministry assignments and obligations. THIS COMMITMENT is made between the Lord and myself and should be made in all seriousness and with full consideration of its responsibility and consequences. AS A PARENT it is made recognizing the necessity of sacrificing my time in providing transportation and holding my son/daughter accountable for time spent in Ministry Team responsibilities, trying to do my part in making my child’s spiritual growth a priority. _________________________ Ministry Team Participant __________________________ Parent or Guardian #1 _________________________ Date Comments from parent or teen: MININSTY TEAM COMMITMENT FOR PARENTS! Dear Ministry Team Parent, Your child is about to join a high commitment, high accountability group that will challenge him/her like never before in their walk with Christ. Since we are in partnership together in making disciples of your kids, I’d like you to know your part in the ministry team commitment. #1-Responsibility. You are committing as parents to help make ministry team a very high priority for the two Sundays a month that we meet (usually the 2nd and 4th). This means scheduling in advance and planning around this day. Your teens have committed to being at our ministry team meetings. When they cannot be there, they are to call me in advance. I will never give them a hard time; everyone misses on occasion. I want to work with you in developing the responsibility that will be increasingly necessary as they mature. #2-Together you are also committing to making Wednesday night BREAKING POINT a regular part of their lives. Again, when they cannot be there, I’m expecting a call in advance. It’s a high standard, but one that I think they will appreciate as they get into situations where this is the norm. I realize that Sunday afternoons are hectic. I appreciate your help in making them the best possible by helping your teens to attend, be on time and be responsible. You’ve already signed a sheet with your permission, but if you have further questions, please feel free to give me a call. I’m her solely to work with you in presenting our teenagers complete in Christ. PJ Pastor Jason
