Dear Mrs. Principal, I heard you have been looking for someone to come and speak at our school. I am guessing you would like him or her to be well educated, well known in their feild, and someone who is nice and genourous. Well I have just the person, none other than our very own president! George W. Bush would be an excelent person to speak at our school. He is well educated (went to Yale), kind, genourous, famous, and he speaks good in front of crowds. He would be a great influnce on all of the seventh and eighth graders here at Correia Middle School. Plus how often do you get to see the president in person! It would be a chance of a life time! If he came to our school it would not olny be fun but educational too. George W. Bush could teach us about the branches of government and how politics work. He may even be able to tell us about what he is planning to do with our country (are we going to stay in Iraq, etc.). Also we could ask him questions regarding the Unitied States, and he could tell us why he has done some of things he has done. I know that some do not exactly like George Bush but he is still our president for the next two years. So wheter you are with or against him he is still in-charge. Next I know it may be difficult to get a hold of him and arrange for him to come and speak but we can send him letters to persade him to come.

Persuasive Essay – Grade 7 - #2

Dear Linda Taggart, I’m a seventh grade student at Correia Middle School. I would like to have the author of the Inkheart trilogy come and speak at our school since she is a magnificent writer and has writen three books that must have forced her to use all of her imagination & put it into a text for the world to enjoy! I know that not everybody likes fictional stories, or even books, at all, but Corneilia Funke, the author of Inkheart, will be more than just an author if she comes, she will be a magician of words that are so beautiful that even the most ignorant person will be itching to hear the rest of what she would have to say. I know that she would be more than willing to come & inspire all the students of Correia with her spell binding words. If she came she could read Inkheart aloud to us & draw us into the story. Corneilia is my favorite author & many of my friends’ favorite too, just reading one of her books made me feel like I was one of the characters in the book, looking through a window at everything that is happening. If you have ever read the Inkheart trilogy then you must know how I feel about the books & their author. I know that it may be an inconvienance for both Coreilia & you that she lives in Europe, but if she came you most deffinitely would not regret it. I bet that if Corneilia came then even you would be begging for more of the story. I, personaly, would give all of my posetions just to hear Corneilia tell one story or

read one passage from her book, or even just hear how she managed to write such lovely books whose pages hold magic, sorrow, hatred, love, revenge, & so much more. I am so sure that you’d love her, & the whole school would love her, that I’d give away all of my horses. Please, try to get her over here as soon as possible. Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Novak, I think that Derek Jeter should come to our school. He is a great baseball player, he is nice to the people and to the media. He does not play dirty but he plays to win all the time. For the kids that want to make a carrer in sports, Jeter could tell them how hard you have to work to make it into the pro’s in any sports including baseball, basketball, football, Soccer, Tennis, swimming, Golf, water polo, any sport you want to make a carrer in. There really isn’t much of a reason why you wouldn’t want Derek Jeter to come and talk to you. He might not be your first choice for you to meet, but you shouldn’t oppose of meeting him. Derek Jeter shows respect for the game, respect for the fans, respect for the other players, and respect for himself. The only reason somebody wouldn’t want Derek Jeter to speak to them is if they are a die-heart Red Sox fan. For those who don’t know, the Red Sox and the Yankees hate each other. They are one of the biggest rivalry’s in the history of any sport. If you wouldn’t “die” for the Red Sox to win, even if you dislike the Yankees, you should still like to meet him. Even though the Yankees hate the Red Sox and vise versa, I bet you Derek Jeter still shows respect for the Red Sox fans and players. He knows the Red Sox

fans are supposed to hate him. He is not going to get all mad because Red Sox fans are doing what they are supposed to do, hate the Yankees. As you can see, Derek Jeter is a nice person who works hard to acheive what he wants too. Many people who don’t care for the Red Sox or the Yankees still like Derek Jeter because he doesn’t play dirty, doesn’t have a bad attitude, doesn’t whine, and he plays his best to the final out of every game.

Persuasive Essay – Grade 7 - #6

Dear Mr. Novak, Imagine going to school, Just like every other day, when suddenly you and all of the other kids in the school are asked to go the auditorium. Imagine your suprise, when you see your role model, the most intelligent and imaginative person in the world standing on stage, getting ready for her presentation. Just imagine Jane Goodall, the amazing Jane Goodall is going to make a speech in your school’s audotorium. Now, why would you choose Jane Goodall to make a speech in our school? The question is not why would you? It is why would not you? She is a great role model for kids in every single way. She was even a great role model as a child, always using her imagination and developing her knowledge by being curious and asking questions. As she grew older she even got to live her dream, going to Africa to study chimpanzees. Now she is teaching children how to help save Africa and save our environment. She is also telling about her life and adventoures to help children live their dream, like she had lived hers. Jane Goodall is an inspiration to children of all ages. She has helped inspire creative minds and learning through her teachings and her research. By having her speak to us, I know that a few more kids will be inspired by her stories and adventoures the way many other great minds have. Do you know, that because of

1

her research many new people, more than ever, have been Joining Gombe research center. I understand that money might be an issue, and it may be hard to contact her, but at no great expense to how the children will develop, learn, and be inspired. Another reason to get her to speak to our school would be to help save our planet. She had been a teacher to many about global warming and forest destruction; Why it is important for us to understand what we can do to help. This is what Jamie Michael, a high school student who has seen Jane Goodall 5 times said, “Every time I hear her speak I am inspired to create and help save the world.” Many people, of all ages, agree that Jane Goodall is a great teacher and inspiration, plus a wonderful story teller. She has inspired and has taught many about Chimpanzees and the world around us. She is a role model to many, and will be a great role model for alot to come. Though the price might be a drawback it is definately a worthwhile trade-off and in the long run, you will be glad that you did it. That experience will stay with every single child their whole life, that they got to experience the most meaningful speech of there young lives, the speaking of Jane Goodall.
