The True Story of Cinderella has been an important musical work in both Tracee’s and my life since we were first exposed to it at Westminster Choir College. For us, it represents a wonderful mixture of music and comedy, along with a commitment to and requirement for excellence. The Da Capo Way elements of passion, discipline and application are evident in every scene and every note. Borne out of the musical community at WCC, it is a perfect “fit” to help Da Capo grow musical communities here in Richmond and beyond. I hope that you will join us in appreciation of the donation of time and talent of the wonderful artists performing this evening. Additionally, there are many Da Capo volunteers among you who also deserve recognition and thanks. We are loving, learning and living our music with you all and for you all. If you have any questions or would like to play a bigger part in building musical communities with us at Da Capo, we would welcome your partnership and support. Please take the time to talk with us and share your passions for music. The work will be performed in concert form without interruptions. We respectfully request that you hold your applause until the conclusion of the finale. INVITATION TO NOTE: Please join us on Saturday, February 23 at 10 am for a special master class opportunity to interact with our artists as both teachers and performers. We make musicians, not just music. The Artist’s Experience by Dr. Charles Hulin IV Artists are interested in expressing the human condition. They are interested in all of life. As an art form, classical music explores every facet of the human condition: pain, passions, conflict, disappointments, as well as love, joy, peace, self-control, and much more. As music gives a broad picture of human experience, it provides a tremendous gift to the church. It shows something of the need for God in daily life outside the church’s walls. It also speaks of the presence of God wherever we find ourselves. Da Capo musicians serve two purposes: to experience music and serve as the musical experience for others ! Our vision is to offer community-based opportunities that develop and train leaders in musical excellence. Our mission is to provide a transforming music experiences that inspire and capture passion, equip through exceptional, dynamic instruction, and champion sharing music’s profound effect with one’s community. Develop the whole person through opportunities for self-expression, discipline, creativity, and teamwork. Achieve excellence through challenging experiences. Create, build, and strengthen new and existing communities through the common language of music. Appreciate all types of music.
