                                                            By Lanny Hintz

Internet Shopping is a phenomenon which has hit the world and become one of the most popular
ways of consumers buying their favourite goods. The most well known internet shopping site is by far
eBay. Worldwide it is known as the place to get anything and everything. Weird and wonderful items
are regularly sold on eBay as well as the more common and practical items. EBay shot to fame within
a space of a few years as more and more people were attracted to its easy setup and low costs. But is
eBay and others like it really going to take over the world of shopping?

In many respects eBay has already become the world’s biggest shop. It is a global brand that almost
everyone has heard of. There are of course the people who refuse to be involved in the exciting world
of eBay but in general it is probably the most popular shop in the western world. Eastern traders use it
to flog their cheap goods, while western consumers happily buy them as the price can be half what
they expect to pay on the high street. Though eBay and other such sites offer a great, cheap
alternative to the more conventional shopping malls, they have not taken over the world yet. Firstly, it is
important to remember that web sales only account for about ten percent of sales in the US so it online
shopping still has a way to go.

Furthermore, there are some goods that just would not be bought online as people often want to see
what they are buying. Web shopping also does not appeal to people who are not computer literate and
with web crime on the rise people are becoming more and more reluctant to give their details out to
people on the web. Additionally, high street stores are lowering their prices to compete with the web
which again offers consumers the choice and even if the price is cheaper on the web, you can’t go out
shopping with your friends on the web so there will always be a market for the shopping malls. We
have to remember that for many shopping is not just getting the lowest price, it is the whole experience
of going out and enjoying yourself.

So, sites like eBay are a fast growing place for goods to be bought and sold but putting it into context
we are far from the end from the traditional shopping mall.

The 5 Great Advantages of Shopping Online
                                                          By Joseph DeFrank

There are 5 great advantages to online shopping today versus physical shopping in stores and malls.

1. You can shop online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and holidays. There are no time constraints
such as the set hours in shops and malls. You can shop online at anytime. If you want to shop at 2am
in the morning in your pajamas from home you can. If you want to shop at 7am while eating breakfast
you can, all from the comfort and relaxation of your home.

2. You have unlimited choices in products when shopping online. You are not limited in your selection
of products and goods as in shops and malls where they have only a certain amount of physical space
in which to display their products. If you want to locate a specific item you can use many search
engines on the web such as Google or Yahoo. If your not searching for a specific item you can use
general categories such as clothing, jewelry, electronics and narrow your selection from there.

3. You are not limited to a certain geographic area or certain stores. You are connected to
cyberspace-a WORLDWIDE network of computer networks which gives you unlimited choices. For
example, if you are looking for a computer you can go online to Dell, Sony, Hewlett Packert etc., If you
are looking for toys you can go to Toys"R"Us, KBtoys, Fisher Price etc. You can do this for any item or
category you are looking for.

4. You can save money by shopping online. You can compare prices more quickly between different
stores and different items. Price comparison shopping sites, such as Shopping.com and Shopzilla.com
will allow you to compare products, specifications and prices at several stores. You can compare
products side by side to determine which one is the best for you. You also have access to more
deals, discounts, promotions, special offers compared to physical stores and malls. Many online stores
offer free shipping right to your door and many times there are no taxes on items you purchase online.
You also are saving on gas, driving to and from stores, especially today when gas prices are so high.

5. You do not need to deal with people by shopping online. No fighting the crowds. No need to hunt
down a clerk to help you. No rude checkout person to deal with. It is just you shopping online from the
relaxation and comfort of your home. All you need is a computer and a credit card.
