Oasis Family Ministries, set up 11 years ago by Judy and Phil McLean, supports families in a slum
 community in Davao City, Philippines.

 Extreme Makeover
We’ve given the good news to a recently orphaned
family that we have funds to rebuild their dilapidated
shack which has a leaking roof and a polluted open
drain running under the rotting floorboards. The 6
children range in age from 12 to 24 - the older ones
have 3 young children of their own, plus the 16 yr old
is pregnant. Lou, our youth worker, is now working
closely with these young people and giving them
some hope and direction for their lives. They have
support from neighbours and friends to provide labour
to rebuild. They also got permission to rechannel the
open drain. For the first time in their lives they will
have a solid tiny home with power, a water tap and a

Stepping Stone Trust provides community based care for people living with Mental Health issues.
For several years the administrative team has been based in an office on Colombo Street which has
become so cramped that a decision was made to move. After much deliberation, a property on Lincoln
Road, that had a derelict house on it, was purchased. The process of demolition, design and council
approval meant that it has taken nearly two years to get to the point where the new house is nearly
finished. Along with housing the administration team, this facility will provide some space for additional
community based services and we believe it will enable us to work more efficiently for the people and
community we serve. After the move (planned for the end of October) we will have an Open Day but
until then feel free to drive by 126 Lincoln Road. For more info email glennd@stepstone.org.nz or phone
