							Statement of Purpose for admission to University of California- Irvine

I wish to do a masters course in Electrical Engineering with D.S.P. as major commencing fall 2010. The choice of specialization in D.S.P. is deliberate because I find it interesting and because of its tremendous potential for applications. My career aim is to play a leading role as an engineer in India’s development as a sophisticated manufacturing economy. This development will also provide tremendous opportunities for research in emerging areas like D.S.P. I discovered my interest in D.S.P. in the course of my undergraduate program when I was introduced to the subject. What I have learnt about the current research work and the course work offered at the graduate level in Department of Electrical Engineering at XXX has convinced me that studying at XXX will greatly help me reach the goals that I have set for myself. In third year I was introduced to D.S.P.----------Project details---------- Found D.S.P. interesting-----------details------------My initial interest in D.S.P. is on account of a semester long course taught in an exemplary manner by the instructor. The course gave generalised view of devices like-------------. In depth study enabled me to realize significance of D.S.P. concepts like-----------. For example---------------. What I have learnt this far has only introduced me to the world of D.S.P. Also it has given me an idea of the future learning that I need to do to build a career that I aim at. I envisage a detailed study of D.S.P. processors, architecture, programming, advanced applications and advanced courses in graduate programme. Ongoing research in XXX is the nearest match to my expectation from the graduate program. The opportunities for such focused higher education in India are still extremely limited. While XXX University meets my requirements, on my part I have performed very well in my undergraduate program consistently securing a place within the top 5 in a class of 160. This has given me an excellent grounding in basic principles of electronics, communication and mathematics. I have also demonstrated aptitude and an innovative spirit. I am confident that my interest and commitment to the subject will enable me to excel in the program
