Marina Maintenance Technician
The expansion of Camper & Nicholsons’ Port Louis Marina has created a vacancy for a
Marina Maintenance Technician. This position is vital to the smooth operation of the
Marina, particularly with respect to our Electrical and Mechanical systems. The Marina
Maintenance Technician reports directly to the General Manager.
We are looking for a multi-skilled person, but the top priority will be Electrical. The
marina has high voltage and standard voltage systems both onshore and on the docks, and
a range of electrical equipment within the Creole Village.
The Marina Maintenance Technician will be required to interface with our guests,
especially connecting boats to our shore power facilities. Service modules on our docks
deliver power ranging from 16 to 600 volts.
As well as having a full understanding of electrical systems, and the ability to carry out
carpentry, plumbing and other repairs across the marina, the Marina Maintenance
Technician must have good communications skills, both written and spoken, in order to
ensure that instructions are clearly given, and that accurate reports are submitted.
Attend to the utility connection requirements of visiting boats, including
electricity, water, and communications.
Support the management team with assistance when setting up for events
Maintenance & Repairs
Carry out regular routine maintenance of the marina’s electrical and mechanical
equipment, buildings and infrastructure;
Carry out equipment repairs as required.
Technical Qualification and Experience
Must have a Wireman’s License
Is required to be familiar with the IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2008) and
NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code).
The successful candidate will have previous work experience with a Utility
Company or/and a major Electrical Contractor.
Good interpersonal skills – the marina is a hospitality business. The correct
customer service attitudes are essential;
Good communication skills – must be able to understand, act upon and in some
cases issue instructions in hazardous environments;
Ability to work as a member of a close-knit team;
Self-motivated and with the ability to work with limited supervision;
Salary – negotiable based on qualifications and experience
