AREA: ATLANTA’S RESOURCE FOR ENTERTAINMENT & ARTS KICKS OFF NEW YEAR WITH BEST OF ATLANTA AWARD
ATLANTA, GA – Touted as the new epicenter for culminating phenomenal talent, AREA: Atlanta’s Resource for Entertainment & Arts brings in 2010 with the prestigious Best Of Atlanta award for Arts & Entertainment from the Atlanta Tribune Magazine. The award was part of the magazine’s inaugural list of minority-owned businesses around the metro-Atlanta area. “We are humbled and deeply honored to receive this award from The Atlanta Tribune. AREA is a team environment, and wouldn’t exist without each individual bringing their unique talents to fulfill the overall mission. It feels great to be rewarded for doing something extremely unique and in a way that affects the lives of youth and adults of all backgrounds in the arts. All of the hard work in seeking to perfect our services and craft is worthwhile, because our AREA truly has no limits,” comments Jai McClendon Jones, Senior Artistic Director of AREA. AREA rang in the 2009 holiday season with its First Annual Jingle & Mingle Holiday Showcase to benefit a group of very special young ladies from the Elks Aidmore Children’s Center. A gathering of parents, VIP’s, and industry executives were overwhelmed by the amazing variety of vocalists, musicians, and dancers from the AREA 360 artist development program. Through its philanthropic extension, The Creative Spark Foundation, AREA is committed to embracing the importance of the arts as a form of positive reinforcement for youth. “We gel novices with industry greats in a cohesive pairing to mentor and advance the vision of the artists. There is a refreshing new vibe of passion and love of the arts that you immediately feel when you enter AREA. Through our exclusively tailored programs, we will continue to work hard to further establish AREA as the metropolis of Atlanta talent,” states Jones.

AREA opened its doors in August 2009 to provide a multi-disciplinary performing arts complex where dance, music and drama collide. Designed specifically for the arts & entertainment enthusiast, AREA is dedicated to initiating a modern-day arts renaissance starting in the Atlanta area, and progressing to a national brand. With each dance step, musical orchestration, and complex emotions of a character, its aim is to provide a place for artists of all ages to cultivate their gifts and define their talents to the highest professional caliber. AREA further encourages collaborative initiatives with arts programs locally and nationally.
