					     Baguio City’s double celebration: PMA Foundation Day,
                  Defense Consciousness Week


      Camp Aquino, Tarlac City - Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) Chief
Lieutenant General Isagani Cachuela congratulates the people of Baguio City
and everybody who have been part of the premier military institution in the
country- the Philippine Military Academy on the occasion of its 110th founding
anniversary.

       The four-day celebration started on October 23 and lasted until Sunday
(October 26). Lieutenant General Leopoldo Maligalig, PMA Superintendent
together with Baguio City Mayor Rey Bautista led the opening ceremony and
ribbon cutting on Thursday, signaling the start of the festivity.

        The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Defense Press Corps
of the Philippines, Incorporated (DPCPI) put up a photo static display and exhibit
that featured acts of heroism of soldiers. To add more color to the celebration,
there were film presentations, static display of equipment and elite units with
exhibitions from the Philippine Marine and Bugle Corps and Special Forces
Regiment Band of the Philippine Army.

       The Rescue Teams and WMD Suit Team from the AFP Reserve
Command AFPRESCOM) as well as the SWAG and Reconnaissance Teams of
the Philippine Navy, Light Armor Division, First Scout Ranger Regiment under
SOCOM, and 505th SRG of the Philippine Air Force had their share of
breathtaking performances.

      Other highlights of the 4-day affair were the drawing competition held at
the Park ,Dance for Peace or Kanyaw and the free Medical and Dental Mission
spearheaded by the DPCI and DZRH Operation “Tulong”.

      Major Rosendo Armas, spokesperson of NOLCOM made sure that the
audience are enthralled with interesting video presentations and film showing. He
also extended the congratulatory message coming from the officers, enlisted
personnel and civilian employees of said Unified Command to the event
organizers.

       The PMA cadets performed the much anticipated Silent Drill to the delight
of the audience during the opening and closing ceremony. Their synchronized
movements never failed to impress the spectators.
