High Street Shopping vs Internet Shopping By Vincent Norman

With the influx of all these sites offering all sorts of items, you wonder whether the hassles of high street shopping is really worth it when you can buy anything you need online. But, would you be able to find the right items instead of picking up a wide variety of gubbins? Not all shopping websites offer worthless items, it's just that sometimes, it is harder to decide whether you really like an item or not unless you get a feel of it, you know what I mean? There are all sorts of stories cropping up about disgruntled internet shoppers. You even might have fallen victim to promises of one day deliveries and waited a full week before your purchase gets to your door. But, what about the horrendous amount of time and energy that you spend on shopping on foot? Let's see the risks and pay-offs of shopping online and shopping on high street Strength Positives to internet shopping on this one and negatives to high street. Why is this? Well, for one, when you go out shopping, you will need to have very strong legs, and comfortable yet sturdy shoes. You will be walking around for at least five hours for about the same amount of items. In short, you will need to be prepared for grievous bodily harm. On the web, all you need are strong fingertips. If you have a well-oiled computer system and a pretty fast server, you might be able to finish up shopping in about an hour, depending on how many items you wish to purchase and how varied your selections are. Doggedness Same rates for both; the determination to find exactly what you are looking for is key to a successful shopping experience. Whether you are shopping online or not, it is extremely difficult to find the perfect gift. However, search engines on the net help out a lot, but the photos would not be equal to getting to touch the item you would like to buy. If you are looking for the perfect present online, you will need to really spend time in looking for it, or if you have specific gifts in mind and they are varied (like iPod sock for your brother, and a swimsuit for your sister) you will need to visit a lot of sites. In the same manner, looking for socks and a swimsuit in the city centre would require you to walk through a lot of shops to find just the right ones.

Satisfaction Well, the satisfaction of the buyer (or the receiver, if it is indeed a present) can be measured in two ways: one is immediate gratification, and the other is the long term contentment. For immediate gratification, internet shopping gets the positive, since you do not have to drive, park, walk, and wait in line for your purchase. All you need is to drag things into your 'shopping cart' and pay online. And the '£' saved could also be appreciated; online stores could offer wholesale prices since they normally do not have to pay rent. Shopping finished, you just need to wait for the items to get delivered. Vincent Norman is a freelance writer living in the UK. Goodbye Shopping Malls…hello Online Deals? By Lanny Hintz

Internet Shopping is a phenomenon which has hit the world and become one of the most popular ways of consumers buying their favourite goods. The most well known internet shopping site is by far eBay. Worldwide it is known as the place to get anything and everything. Weird and wonderful items are regularly sold on eBay as well as the more common and practical items. EBay shot to fame within a space of a few years as more and more people were attracted to its easy setup and low costs. But is eBay and others like it really going to take over the world of shopping? In many respects eBay has already become the world’s biggest shop. It is a global brand that almost everyone has heard of. There are of course the people who refuse to be involved in the exciting world of eBay but in general it is probably the most popular shop in the western world. Eastern traders use it to flog their cheap goods, while western consumers happily buy them as the price can be half what they expect to pay on the high street. Though eBay and other such sites offer a great, cheap alternative to the more conventional shopping malls, they have not taken over the world yet. Firstly, it is important to remember that web sales only account for about ten percent of sales in the US so it online shopping still has a way to go. Furthermore, there are some goods that just would not be bought online as people often want to see what they are buying. Web shopping also does not appeal to people who are not computer literate and with web crime on the rise people are becoming more and more reluctant to give their details out to people on the web. Additionally, high street stores are lowering their prices to compete with the web which again offers consumers the choice and even if the price is cheaper on the web, you can’t go out shopping with your friends on the web so there will always be a market for the shopping malls. We have to remember that for many shopping is not just getting the lowest price, it is the whole experience of going out and enjoying yourself. So, sites like eBay are a fast growing place for goods to be bought and sold but putting it into context we are far from the end from the traditional shopping mall.
