- Utilitarianism and the invisible hand - Ricardian economics - Marxian Economics - Welfare and new welfare economics - Arrow’s and Sen’s impossibility theorems - Harsany and Rawls - Nozick and Hayek - Contemporary theories of freedom Bibliographical suggestions will be provided during the course. Students are required to present an essay by the 7th of January 2009. This will count as an exam. The subject will be previously discussed with the teacher.
