Directions: Correct the comma errors in the paragraph below. You may need to insert commas
and remove unnecessary commas to correct the paragraph. This section is worth 15
              points.

On October 3 1849 Poe was found on the streets of Baltimore.

According to the man who found him Poe was delirious and in great

distress. Poe died a few days later. He was never coherent long enough

to explain his condition, or explain why he was wearing clothes that

were not his own. Some sources claim that before dying Poe said "Lord,

help my poor soul."

The precise cause of Poe's death is disputed. Dr. Snodgrass who was among those who

saw Poe in his last days was convinced that Poe's death was a result of drunkenness. Dr.

Snodgrass however was a supporter of the temperance movement and found Poe a useful

example in his work. Later scholars have shown that his account of Poe's death distorts facts to

support his theory. Dr. John Moran was the physician who saw Poe just before Poe died. Dr.

Moran reported "Edgar Allan Poe did not die under the effect of any intoxicant…"

Numerous other theories have been proposed over the years. Some theories state that

Poe died from a rare brain disease diabetes syphilis rabies and that he was murdered. Because

there is no accurate record of his death the cause of Edgar Allan Poe’s death will never be

known for certain.
