Small Customer Big Market Amjad Ali Arbab is Executive Vice President of Bank of Khyber. He is spent 22 years in leading positions at financial and non-financial institutions including 12 years with Bank of Khyber. He has worked to strengthen the microfinance and SME sector in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan, and has collaborated closely with ADB, SDC and IFAD. M. Abdul Awal was a senior executive in Sonali Bank as a microfinance specialist. He now works for the Credit and Development Forum(CDF) as director (Network and Advocacy). He has also worked with PKSF. Abul Kalam Azad is a microfinance practitioner and a former senior executive of Grameen Bank. He has worked in the micro-credit sector for the last 20 years, and is now working with CDF. Job Blijdenstein has worked in micro and small business development since 1976, employed by ILO, RVB(now MSM) and others. Since 1992, he has been Director and coowner with FACET B.V., of FACETA Central, doing consultancy and project management in Central America for organizations such as IADB, SDC, DGIS and World Bank Cathryn Carlson worked for 15 years in project finance and capital markets in commercial banks in Asia, Europe and the USA,. She has recently set up as an independent consultant in micro finance, based in Singapore where he has lived for the past nine years. Andres Cornejp is the President of Producers rural Banking Corporation in Nueva Ecija(Philippines), which he established in 1995. Jay Dyer has worked for the DAI Group of companies since 1995. He has 16 years of experience in commercial banking, product development, financial institution development and project management. Before joining DAI, he spent eight years working in commercial banks in the United States as vice president of commercial lending. Fabrizio Felloni, an agricultural economist, works in the office of Evaluation at IFAD. He has worked in project, thematic and country programme evaluations in Asia, North and sub-Saharan Africa. Veronica Gilbert is the Director of the Public Sector Services unit of Deloitte Touche Tohmastsu Emerging Markets Group, which focuses on building the capacity of public sector institutions via international development programmes. She set up and coordinated the Kosovo Business Finance Fund(KBFF), followed by the American Bank of Kosovo. Guillemettee Jaffrin worked in Georgia in 2001-2002 for Bannock consulting as a Banking Adviser on an EBRD-funded programme to support commercial banks to enter Small Customer Big Market microfinance. Since 2003, Guillemette has worked for the International Labour Organization in Vietnam on microfinance issues. Maria Soledad Jarrin is Technical Sub-Director of Fundacion Alternativa, Grupo solidario on Ecuador. She has 20 years experience in NGOs and private development organizations. She is also a faculty member of the Catholic University of Ecuador. Vijay Kulkarni is a consultant in microfinance. He has worked for SIDBI, NABARD, GTZ and other national and international agencies. He is also the Director of the Development Resource Centre(DRC), based at Dharwad in Karnataka, western India. He worked earlier with Basix Finance, Canara Bank and Malaprabha Grameen Bank. Late M. Lawson-Lartego is responsible for policy, strategy, backstopping technical support and capacity building for microfinance in CARE Gulf of Guinea(Ghana, Togo and Benin). Before this, he worked in other senior positions in microfinance for CARE in Benin, and has also worked for planet Finance in France as project manager. Teona Mikadze worked as a marketing associate for Bannock consulting in Georgia during 2001-2002 on an EBRD-funded programme to support commercial banks to enter microfinance. She is now managing the media research division of the Institute for Polling and Marketing in Georgia. J.Peter Morrow is an international banker and consultant with 34 years experience in the USA and developing countries. He has been CEO of the AgBank of Mongolia since its turnaround began in June 2000. He has also served as CEO of two banks and executive officer of two others in Western economies. Tara Nair is an Associate Professor at the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, India. She has also worked for EDA Rural Systems and other institutions. Elisabeth Rhyme is Senior Vice President, International Operations/Africa and Policy and Financial Analysis Department, for ACCION of Washington, D.C. she was earlier the Director of the Office of Microenterprise Development at the US Agency for International Development (USAID) from 1994 to 1998, and before that she designed and co-ordinated USAIDs GEMINI project. Kenneth Rufasha is a Doctoral Researcher at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University. He also lectures at the university. He has previous experience as a bank manager, an entrepreneur and a business development consultant. Small Customer Big Market Melita Sawyer is Project Assistant in the Grupo Solidario Project to strengthen savings and credit co-operatives in Ecuador. She has also worked in microfinance in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand; Boston, Massachusetts as well as in Quito, Ecuador. Hans Dieter Seibel is Professor of Sociology at Cologne University, Germany. From 1999-2001 he was a Rural Finance Adviser at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome. Form 1998-2001, he was GTZ team leader of the project’Linking Banks and Self-Help Groups in Indonesia’. Roshika Singh is currently a member of the Financial Services Practice unit at deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Emerging Markets Group. She has worked in many countries on the design of tax, state registry, collateral registry and real-time gross settlement systems, as well as banking supervision programmes. R. Srinivasan is an Assistant General Manager with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) of India. He is presently District Development Manager for Madhurai District in Tamil Nadu. He has worked fro NABARD for 20 years, and before that was employed at a national-level commercial bank in India. M.S. Sriram is Professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He was previously employed by Basix Finance and by the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore. S. Viswanatha Prasad works for the Basix group of companies, based in Hyderabad, India, where he was earlier Managing Director of Bhartiya Samruddhi Finance, Ltd., the main non-bank operating unit of the group. Graham Wright is a reformed accountant. Graham has worked in development for 15 years, and is currently Programme Director for the MicroSave programme, which promotes the development and implementation of market-led financial services for the poor. Ravinder Yadav started his career as a university teacher and researcher. He then joined a leading commercial bank, where he worked as an agricultural officer, an instructor and then as manager of a large branch. He has managed the microfinance department in the corporate office of the Oriental Bank of Commerce since 1996. Robin Young has worked for Development Alternatives for 12 years, in research and programme implementation related to microenterprise finance. Before joining DAI, she worked as a consultant to the Microenterprise Unit of the Inter-American Development Bank, conducting research on guarantee funds for microfinance institutions, and as an Associate of Resource Development for ACCION International.
