LAKE MUNMORAH HIGH SCHOOL DECEMBER 2009 NEWSLETTER From the Principal I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers for their support throughout the year. Educating children is a challenging and rewarding vocation which relies on a strong partnership between parents, teachers and students. We are fortunate here at Lake Munmorah that our students enjoy strong support from these partners. There will always be times when this relationship is tested – particularly since we are dealing with adolescents, but we always move forward with the aim of achieving the best outcomes for our students. This edition of our newsletter comes to you as the school year is coming to a close. It is important at this time of the year to reflect on our endeavours and to celebrate our successes. The School Certificate results Well done to our Year 10 students and their teachers – The SC results announced this week continue the upward trend of the past few years. Each year the performance of our Year 10 students has improved by about 5%. This is most pleasing and bodes well for this particular group, the majority of whom are moving onto senior studies in 2010. Good luck to those Year 10 students who are pursuing a different path to further their education or are moving into the world of work. Today we issue school reports for our junior students and celebrate the achievements of our students at our Annual Presentation Assembly. I congratulate the many students who have achieved their personal best. Arrangements for the last week Please be advised that school finishes for students on Wednesday 16 th th December 2009. Staff changes for 2010 Our amazing music teacher Miss Stafford cannot be with us next year and we are very sad to see her move on from our Music department. She has been an asset to the invigorated music faculty and has worked very hard alongside Miss Elliot this past year with outstanding success. Her impressive violin performances throughout the year have been an absolute pleasure to experience. We will all miss her and wish her every success in the future. We also need to farewell the very talented and very special Miss Sherlock as she takes a year of absence to travel. This dynamic and outstanding teacher will be terribly missed by students and staff alike. She brings a warmth and expertise to Drama that is an asset to our school. We wish her a safe and fun filled adventure ahead and hope she returns to us in 2011. On behalf of the CAPA team have a very Merry Christmas Jody Robinson Head Teacher, Creative and Performing Arts WORLD MATHS DAY! He was from World of Maths and showed some Year 8 students some great hands on activities and mind solving puzzles.
