Sports Highlights

Happy Holidays to all members of the Lincoln community. It has been an exciting time of year as many of our seniors have completed the California State University and University of California application deadlines as of November 30. For our underclassmen, it is our goal at Lincoln that all of our students will meet the rigorous coursework required for our prestigious public state university systems. The College and Career Center in Room 53 has been on overdrive helping students prepare for life after Lincoln. Another exciting development this year has been the integration of the School Loop program in to the district and the school. School Loop is an online tool for parents, students and teachers to communicate with each other in all matters regarding student achievement including grades, attendance, school news and direct email contact. Every Lincoln student and staff member has access to the system from any internet portal, and hundreds of parents have signed on so far. Check the PTSA Newsletter or the Lincoln website at www.lincolnhigh.net for how to sign up. The school website also includes the school's Daily Bulletin and Monthly Calendar for families to stay informed. The new classroom wing as a result of the SFUSD Bond Project is nearing completion and will be ready for students in January of 2010. The beautiful, new track and field project opened in the fall and as the work continues through summer we will be seeing many "finishing touches" such as exterior and interior paint, a refurbished hardwood floor in the Peter Yan Gymnasium, and installation of a state-of-the-art security camera system throughout the campus. Finally, I strongly encourage family participation in the PTSA at this time in particular due to the state's budget shortfalls that are impacting public education. State Assembly Representative and Democratic Majority Whip Fiona Ma will be attending our December PTSA meeting to address some of our concerns. Tough decisions will have to be made in the near future, and we will have to be innovative in finding ways to ensure that our children continue to receive an outstanding education. I am optimistic when I consider the excellent students, teachers, staff and families of our great school.

GO MUSTANGS! The Lincoln Girls are on a Winning Streak!

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Volleyball Team who were UNDEFEATED and won the AAA CHAMPIONSHIP with a crushing 3-0 win over Lowell.
