JOB PROFILE

Position Title: PROJECT MANAGER
Division: Industry Development & Production
Immediate Supervisor: Program Manager

12 month Contract

DUTIES

   1. Work with the Program Manager to manage the functioning and delivery of the ID&P
       initiatives and programs of assistance.
   2. Manage individual funding programs and monitor the performance of the projects,
       including assessing, evaluating and commenting on projects and providing feedback
       on development and marketing strategies as well as working with applicants to
       improve their submissions and provide feedback for on-going development.
   3. Work with the Manager Industry Development & Production (MID&P) and other
       Project Officers in a team-based process to assess applications for development,
       production, marketing and other funding programsOverseeing the administrative
       delivery and functioning of the ID&P programs to ensure they are industry relevant
       and administered in a best practice manner including meeting SAFC strategic
       outcomes.
   4. Monitoring program and project outcomes and making recommendations to improve
       results.
   5. Oversee and manage successful program applications to ensure completion in
       accordance with the SAFC’s requirements and contractual obligations, providing any
       necessary reports related to the management of individual funded projects.
   6. Arrange and participate in discussions with applicants and arrange external
       assessments or consultations concerning applications for funding.
   7. Co-ordinate the program budget.
   8. Collaborate with other SAFC departments, in particular Communications to increase
       the level of production undertaken in South Australia.
   9. Work with the Program Manager and other Project Officers in the monitoring and on-
       going development of programs, policies and processes.
   10. Coordinate the administrative and financial reporting duties related to the
       management of individual projects and ID&P programs.
   11. Liaise with and actively communicate information about ID&P activities to the film
       practitioner client base.
   12. Be aware of industry views and production trends by establishing and maintaining
       relationships with a wide cross section of the production, distribution and broadcast
       industry and conduct research on local, national and international practice in relation
       to policies, practices and programs.
   13. Manage the SAFC’s interface with clients in relation to program policies and
       programs.
   14. Maintain effective working relationships with staff of other Federal and State film
       agencies and broadcasters.
   15. Represent the SAFC at conferences, seminars and meetings to articulate the SAFC’s
       policy objectives to industry groups, capitalise on networking opportunities, and
       develop strategic relationships to the benefit of the SA industry
   16. Other duties as required.
SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Substantial and recent experience at a key creative level in at least two of the
     following: feature film, short film, documentary, animation, interactive media or
     previous experience in a state or federal agency.
  2. Proven experience in and preference for team-based management and decision-
     making processes.
  3. The ability to evaluate ideas, scripts and other proposals against the SAFC’s
     development, production, marketing and other guidelines.
  4. The ability and willingness to appreciate the value of and support projects which are
     outside your own personal taste or interests.
  5. The ability to assess the production and budget implications of scripts and project
     proposals.
  6. A strong working knowledge of the current financing, production and marketing
     structures of the Australian film, television and interactive media industries with a
     particular understanding of the South Australian industry landscape.
  7. Key industry relationships with broadcasters, distributors and other film agencies and
     the ability to represent the SAFC within the Australian film, television and interactive
     media industries.
  8. Written and oral communication skills of a high order.
