The sources include the computers, the document camera, the DVD Player, and the VCR. Touch PRESENTATION and the system will go to Screen #3. AUDIO ONLY is used when you are lecturing without media. This will only power up the audio system (wireless mics). It will not power up the projectors, saving lamp life. See Screen #5 CINEMA mode will only power up the center projector in a wide-screen format, and switch you to Screen #4. Your source choices will be the DVD Player and the VCR. NOTICE: The Computers and the Document Camera are only available in the Presentation Mode. 3 Project the Station Computer (Home Screen – Presentation Mode) On the first screen touch PRESENTATION. Once in the PRESENTATION mode, there are identical source controls for the left and right projectors. To project the Station PC or Mac computers, simply touch the appropriate button on either screen. This will switch the chosen computer to both screens. To wake up the PC computer, simply move the mouse. If this does not arouse the computer on the desktop display, you will need to press the start-up button on the front of the computer. The computers are located on the bottom shelf of the left cabinet. Once the computer is awake, you will need to enter a username and password. The user name should come up on the screen as “aa210”. If it does not, please enter aa210. In the password line, enter classroom. These are all lower case letters. To change the room lighting, see Screen #10. You are now ready to begin. 4 Project the Laptop Computer (Home Screen – Presentation Mode) One the desktop, to the left of the control panel, you will find a group of cables for your laptop. The is a VGA cable, an audio cable, and an internet cable. Connect those cables to you laptop. Once the cables are connected, power up your laptop. For greater detail of this connection, see the EXTRON LAPTOP CONNECTOR page at the end of this document. To project your laptop, simply touch the LAPTOP key at the left of each projector window. This will project your computer to both screens. If your laptop does not project, try rebooting it. If you have a problem getting your laptop to project, or you need instruction on connecting the cables to your computer, please call Jim at X2625, or Steve at X-4041. To change the room lighting, see Screen #10. 5 Project the DVD Player (Home Screen – Presentation Mode) The DVD Player is presentable in two different room modes. In the PRESENTATION mode, it will appear in the left and the right screen. In the CINEMA mode, it will appear in a wide-screen format in the center of the screen. In the PRESENTATION mode you will be presented with this page. To project the DVD player, simply touch DVD in the upper left of one of the projector windows. To operate the DVD player, see Screen # 17 and 18. In the CINEMA mode (screen #4) you will be given the choice of either the DVD player or the VCR. Touch the DVD button to select that source. To operate the DVD player, see Screen # 17 and 18. To change the room lighting, see Screen #10. 6 Project the VCR (Home Screen – Presentation Mode) The Video Cassette Player is presentable in two different room modes. In the PRESENTATION mode, it will appear in the left and the right screen. In the CINEMA mode, it will appear in a wide-screen format in the center of the screen. In the PRESENTATION mode you will be presented with this page. To project the VCR, simply touch VCR in the top center of one of the projector windows. To operate the VCR, see Screen # 19. In the CINEMA mode (screen #4) you will be given the choice of either the DVD player or the VCR. Touch the VCR button to select that source. To operate the VCR, see Screen # 19. To change the room lighting, see Screen #10. 7 Project the Document Camera (Home Screen – Presentation Mode) In the PRESENTATION mode you will be presented with this page. To select the document camera, simply touch DOC CAM found at the bottom of either of the projector windows. The Document Camera is located to the right of the Instructor Control Surface. To power up the unit, press the ( | ) side of the power switch on the left side of the platform. To see operation instructions, see the Document Camera section at the end of this document. To change the room lighting, see Screen #10. 8 Identical Projection on Both Screens (Home Screen – Presentation Mode) In the PRESENTATION mode, there are identical source controls for the left and right projectors. The MIRRORED (red) button in the center of the screen, indicates that the same source will be sent to both screens. For Example, touch Laptop on either side and your connected Laptop will be displayed on both the Left and the Right screen. The lights will go to the LECTURE preset. This lighting can be changed to suit your needs. See the LIGHTS control on screen #10. 9 Projecting Two Different Sources In the PRESENTATION mode, there are identical source controls for the left and right projectors. If you touch the MIRRORED (red) button in the center of the screen, between the projector menus, it will change to SEPARATE. When you switch to the SEPARATE mode, you can choose one source on the left side and a different source on the right side. For example, project the Power Point from your Laptop on the Left Screen, and use the Document Camera on the Right Screen. You will also be given a choice of which source to feature for audio. If you have a power point on the right screen and a DVD playing on the left screen, you will need to touch the audio button on the bottom of the Left Screen window to choose the DVD audio. The mic will continue to work on top of either choice. If you want to focus attention on a particular display, you can choose that source, such as the DVD player on one screen and choose a dark source for the other screen. A powered down computer or a powered down document camera would be a dark source. You can also change Room Modes to the Single Projector Mode by touching OPTIONS (screen #11), touching ROOM MODES, then choosing CINEMA mode. This will provide the VCR and DVD as sources. The lighting can be changed to suit your needs. See the LIGHTS control on screen #10. 10 Changing to or from Audio Only (Home Screen – Audio Only Mode) The AUDIO ONLY mode will bring up the audio system but will not power up the projectors. Using this mode for lectures that do not require any media will save lamp life on the projectors. The Cassette player and the CD player are still available as sources through the SELECT button at the bottom-left of the screen. If you began your lecture in PRESENTATION mode and would like to switch to AUDIO ONLY, simply touch OPTIONS, then ROOM MODES (on screen #11), then touch AUDIO ONLY (on screen #12). The system will require a moment to change modes. If you began your lecture in AUDIO ONLY mode and you have material that you would like to present, you can switch to PRESENTATION, simply touch OPTIONS, then ROOM MODES (on screen #11), then touch PRESENTATION (on screen #12). The system will require a minute to change modes and power up the projectors. 11 Showing A Movie (Home Screen – Cinema Mode) At the first screen choose the CINEMA mode. The CINEMA button will bring you to this screen, which enables the center projector in the wide-screen mode. The microphones and two video sources available in the CINEMA mode: DVD (Screen #17 and #18) VCR (Screen #19). The controls for the selected source will be displayed in the center window at the bottom of the screen. To the left of that window will be the standard volume control and the system control buttons will be to the right (See screen #3). Touch the LIGHTS button to take you to screen #10 which gives you the lighting presets. Touch MOVIE to darken the room for a movie. To change from CINEMA mode to any other mode, touch OPTIONS, then ROOM MODES (screen #11) and select the new room mode you want. 12 Turning The System Off To Power the Room OFF: Press the “Exit” button in the lower right corner of the screen (See Below). A Confirmation page will now be displayed. To power the room off, press the “Power Off” button. The room will now begin its power down sequence. If the room was using the projectors, the “Projector Cool-down” Page will now be displayed. When the projectors have completed their cool-down process, the “Touch To Begin” page will again be displayed. The room is now ready to be used again.
