• 1st HLG meeting on February 28, 2005 6 countries presented their national initiatives • 2nd HLG meeting on June 17, 2005 – 12 countries have presented their current initiatives • With involvement of national stakeholders, public instance, education & research organisation

Existing initiatives
• List of 12 countries :
– Italy, – Portugal, – Spain, – Poland, – Austria, – Switzerland, – Denmark, – Germany, – Netherlands, – Ireland – Romania, – United Kingdom
The progress status of these initiatives varies from preparation to strong structured actions and commitments from actors (industry, public & research)

From SRA to implementation
• The implementation of the SRA needs :
– Coordinated actions at European level (policies, high level R&D, standardisation,…)
– Individual actions at National level (dissemination, SMEs, education, adaptations of national regulations,…)
– Local actions at regional levels (technology transfer, SMEs, clusters,….)

MANUFUTURE Contribution to National actions
• How Manufuture can help the national initiatives :
– Help to structure a harmonised manufacturing approach in European countries (avoiding duplicate actions, redundancies). – Help to fill the gap between European, National and Regional challenges. – Propose the pooling of R&D needs from the different countries. – Develop synergies between national programmes and policies – Influence the national R&D programmes in Manufacturing – Promote new national programmes in other member states – Mutualise effort & funding (National-Regional /Industrial/EU)

– Contribute to the implementation of MANUFUTURE national and regional actions – Involvement of all stakeholders in Manufuture at National and regional level and SMEs involvement – Political support of MANUFUTURE from member states – Technical contributions to MANUFUTURE deliverables (SRA, WG, HG documents) – Pool financial resources to support the implementation of the SRA – Set up links with national and regional stakeholders – Dialogue with societal players (unions, federations, associations,…)
