							                                   Biography of Andrea Coleman
                                   Andrea Coleman, professionally and lovingly known as Ms Andrea, is
                                   a native Clevelander. At the age of 4 her parents purchased their family
                                   home settling down in the Mount Pleasant area in the 60’s. As a child
                                   she attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and when she was old
                                   enough began singing in the church youth choir. That’s when the dream
                                   of becoming an entertainer began. She was enrolled in ballet, and modern
                                   dance classes as a means to help her overcome being pigeon-toed, but it
                                   only added fuel to the fire of performing. So as all creative children of
                                   those days, she performed in a host of basement ballet productions with
                                   the neighborhood kids and sang and danced to entertain family friends at
                                   parties. Her first public performance occurred in the 1975 John F. Kennedy
                                   talent show where she performed Chaka Khan’s You’ve Got The Love.
Falling in love, she gave up the dream of performing for another dream she had, the one of being a wife, and
mother. In Feb 1977 she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and then a gorgeous baby girl in Jan 1978. Facing
the grueling challenges of motherhood with 2 children so close in age she hoped that one day she would still
be able to have an opportunity to have her dream of becoming a performing come true. Once her children
grew up she found that the fire still burned within her.
One day she learned of a local club having a talent contest called Step up to the Mic night with the chance to
win a cash prize and a trip to Vegas to perform. Knowing that she had what it took to win she entered the con-
test. Even though she wasn’t the winner of the contest she met a local bass player who said he was looking for
a female vocalist, and she accepted. After a short time with the local band Playground there is one thing that
she will always remember. The Casting couch is real, and if you want the audience to feel what you are sing-
ing about you have to sing with attitude.
In 1998, still desirous of performing with musicians she sought out local bands that had jam sessions, allowing
vocalists to sing. There she got the break of her life. She met lots of fine musicians and vocalists who took her
under their wings and helped her hone her stage presence. Then one day a friend introduced her to a man who
seven years later would become her husband. His name is Robert (Rob C.) Coleman.
In 2000 she started her own production company and began booking herself as an accepella vocal act singing
for the elderly and the disabled in Cleveland area nursing homes. She has fashioned her vocal styles after such
greats as Ella, Carmen, Gladys, & Aretha. Ms. Andrea, who, with great emotion and her own personal touch,
delivers her songs with such depth that it sends chills down your spine.
In October 2005 Andrea married Rob C. and the rest is musical history. They combined their musical gifts and
formed the band Rob C’s Hipnotik Band, and began performing together in local Cleveland venues as one of
the area’s premiere husband & wife acts.
