Biography of Directors and Senior Management
Executive Directors Edward Kuok Khoon Loong is the Chairman of the Company. He is also Chairman of Kuok Philippine Properties, Inc. which is listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange and also Chairman of Shangri-La Asia Limited which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He is also Chairman and Managing Director of Shangri-La International Hotels (Pacific Place) Limited and Shangri-La Hotel (Kowloon) Limited and a Vice Chairman of Kerry Holdings Limited. He has been with the Kuok Group since 1978. He has a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom. Mr. Kuok is a nephew of Mr. Robert Kuok Hock Nien. Tomas C. Zita, Jr. is the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Company. He is a director of a number of companies within the Kuok Group in Hong Kong, Fiji, Indonesia and the Philippines, including Fiji Resorts Limited, EDSA Shangri-La Hotel and Resort, Inc., Mactan Shangri-La and Makati Shangri-La Hotel & Resort, Inc. of which he is the Chairman. He is also the Vice Chairman of Kuok Philippine Properties Inc. and a director of KSA Realty Corporation, a consortium that owns the Enterprise Center, Makati City, Philippines. He is also the Chairman of KPPI Land Corporation. Prior to joining the Kuok Group, he was involved in the insurance and commodities business. He has an MBA from New York University. Chew Fook Aun, aged 41, is a director and a member of the Executive Committee of the Company. He is a director of Kuok Philippine Properties, Inc. which is listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange. He is also the Chief Financial Officer of Kerry Properties Limited which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He is also a director of Chiwan Container Co., Ltd., Shangri-La Plaza Corporation, Jacksons Landing Development Qty. Limited and Village Docklands Pty. Limited. Prior to joining Kerry Holdings Limited in January 1995 as corporate finance manager, he was a senior manager with Ernst & Young in Hong Kong. He is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science of the University of London in the United Kingdom and holds a Bachelor of Science (Economics) degree from the University of London. He trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Whinney in London. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants and is also a Council member of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants. Danila Regina I. Fojas is the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Shangri-La Plaza Corporation (SLPC). Prior to joining, she was with San Miguel Corporation for the last 20 years where she held various marketing management positions in the Philippines, Indonesia and in Hong Kong, as Vice President for International Marketing for the international beer operations. She completed her Master in Business Management with Distinction at the Asian Institute of Management, where she also served as a member of the core faculty and Executive Managing Director for Marketing and Customer relations. Vicente P. Formoso is the Treasurer of the Company. He is also a Director and Treasurer of Shangri-La Plaza Corporation, Makati Shangri-La Hotel & Resort, Inc., EDSA Shangri-La Hotel & Resort, Inc., Mactan Shangri-La Hotel & Resort, Inc., KPPI Land Corporation, Kerry Holdings Phil., Inc., Ivory Post Properties, Inc. and Martin B. Properties, Inc. He is the Treasurer of Kuok Philippine Properties, Inc. Ho Shut Kan is a Director of the Company. Since May 1998, he has been an Executive Director of Kerry Properties Limited which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He is an Executive Director of Kerry Properties (H.K.) Limited, the principal property company of the Kerry Properties Group in Hong Kong. He is also a Director of Western Harbour Tunnel Company Limited. From 1985 to 1990, he was a Director and the Group General Manager of the principal Kerry Group Hong Kong property operating company. He is responsible for the Group's Hong Kong residential and commercial investments, property developments and infrastructure-related investments. Mr. Ho has over 20 year's experience in the property field in Hong Kong and the PRC. He holds a master of Business Administration Degree from the University of East Asia. He is also a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Real Estate Administration.
Federico G. Noel, Jr. is the Corporate Secretary and Corporate Legal Counsel of the Company. He is a Director, Corporate Legal Counsel and Corporate Secretary of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel & Resort, Inc., Edsa Shangri-La Hotel and Resort, Inc., and Mactan Shangri-La Hotel and Resort, Inc. He is also the Corporate Secretary and Corporate Legal Counsel for the Kuok Group of Companies in the Philippines; Kuok Philippine Properties, Inc. and Shangri-La Plaza Corporation. He holds a Juris Doctor Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, graduating in 1991. Independent Non-Executive Directors Alfredo C. Ramos is the Vice Chairman of the Company. He is also the Chairman of Anglo Philippine Holdings Corporation, Atlas Publishing Group of Companies, Inc., the Chairman and President of National Book Store, Inc., The Philodrill Corporation and Vulcan & Industrial Mining Corporation. He is the President of Abacus Book and Card Corporation and Crossings Department Store Corporation. He is President of Atlas Consolidated Mining & Development Corp., Director of Central Azucarera del Pilar, Kuok Philippine Properties, Inc., Penta Capital Holdings Inc., Philippine Seven Corp. and Vice Chairman of Shangri-La Plaza Corporation. Cynthia Roxas-Del Castillo was elected Director of the Company in August 2001. She is a Partner at the law firm of Romulo, Mabanta, Buenaventura, Sayoc & de los Angeles and has been with the firm for 27 years. She served as Dean of the Law School of the Ateneo de Manila University from 1990 to 2000 and is a Professor of Civil Law and Securities Regulations. She was President of the Philippine Association of Law Schools from 1 997-1999. She holds an LI.B Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, graduating Valedictorian in 1976 and placing 11th in the 1976 Bar Examinations. She currently also serves as Corporate Secretary and Director of other various Philippine Corporations. Maximo G, Licauco III is a Director of the Philodrill Corporation, Vulcan Industrial and Mining Corporation, Penta Capital Investment Corporation, Penta Capital Finance Corporation, Anglo Philippine Holdings Corporation and United Paragon Mining Corporation. He is the President of Filstar Distributors Corporation (Hallmark Licensee) and Area Vice President of National Book Store Inc. Augusta B. Sunico is a Director, the Executive Vice President and Treasurer of The Philodrill Corporation. He is a member of the Board of Regents, Chairman of the Management Committee and President of Manuel L.
