FUNDING
HACC Minimum Data Set (MDS) for
the 2004-05 financial year
Data Source
The client data has been extracted from the HACC Minimum Data Set (MDS)
collection for the 2004-05 financial year. As only 73 per cent of HACC funded
agencies in NSW submitted HACC MDS data for 2004-05, actual client
numbers and outputs may be higher than those reported here. Similarly, a
significant number of client records did not contain valid geographical
information enabling them to be assigned to a Local Planning Area.
The Australian Government Department of Health & Ageing provided HACC
Target population data for 2004-05. Estimations on the HACC Target
Population were obtained by applying the moderate, severe and profound
disabilities rates obtained in the ABS 1998 Survey of Disability Ageing &
Carers (SDAC) to ABS population projections.
Using the Data
The service level data (hours/units of HACC service received per 1,000
people in the HACC target population) enables you to compare service levels
between the LPA and State average. This will assist you in identifying where
there are gaps in HACC service provision in your LPA, and where there is a
relative over-supply.
Region Specific Analysis
Some of the significant differences in per capita service outputs
between your region and the State are highlighted below:
Hours/units of HACC service were received by service type
per 1,000 HACC TP.
Hours/units of HACC service were received by service type
by LGA.

South East LPA, Region, State.
South East Sydney LPA - Met South Region:
709 hours of case management services were received per 1,000 HACC
target population compared to 289 in NSW.

HACC target population compared to 3,332 in NSW.
1,961 hours of domestic assistance services were received per 1,000
